Club or Country?
Quick question, quick answer?
Would you rather England win this ere World Cup or Villa win the FA Cup next season???
I used to follow England all over the place (as well as Villa ) but it wasn't really out of some patriotic, nationalism-esque type of thing. It was mainly an excuse to travel with a load of mates to different cities around europe, new grounds etc..etc.. and get pissed
So for me, it's a most definite Villa to win the FA Cup
I realise there's people from different countries on here, so just replace the England with Australia, USA etc etc... and for you Sweaties and Micks, just pretend Scotland or Ireland have qualified, for the benefit of the question

Villa FA cup without a shadow of doubt.
However I do prefer international football these days its the purest form of the game left.

I would rather Villa winning the league cup than England winning the world cup but that's not to say I don't want England to win the world cup :)

Re: Club or Country?
Its a tough one because many of my friends are English but not many are Villa fans (I live in Australia). So the World cup would be an awesome night out with mates, where as a FA Cup would be good for me but I would probably be alone watching it.

Villa winning a match over England winning the World Cup.

FA Cup. Absolutely no doubt about it.
While I will still watch England from afar during tournaments, they've let me down too many times now for my liking.

Re: Club or Country?
it all depends on your country of origin, personally i would love to see my country (Rep. Ireland) win the world cup as chances are it'll never happen. where as if we really applied ourselves i could see villa winning the F.a. cup in the near future

Re: Club or Country?
I really have very little sentimental value towards England. Don't get me wrong, I love the fact I was born here but that was purely due to luck (as a side note, I won't be voting for UKIP or the BNP tomorrow).
I want the best team, playing the most entertaining football, to win the World Cup.
I want Villa to win every club competition despite how dog shit the football is.

Re: Club or Country?
Villa all the way. FA cup or League Cup or even just a couple of back to back wins.

Re: Club or Country?
Villa but I am a very strong Ireland supporter. Being from a smaller country is a bit different I guess than coming from somewhere like England. When Ireland qualify for a major tournament it it quite special here, the whole country just goes mental and even non-football fans start following it very closely. Somebody above, was it you sceptical villan, said internationals are the purest form of the game left and I agree.
That said, to see villa win an FA Cup or a League title would be just a dream and we need to get those big European nights back and all.

Villa win the FA Cup.
This might be because there is absolutely no chance of Scotland ever winning a world cup and as a consequence I can't imagine how I'd feel if it happened though.

Re: Club or Country?
I have no interest in international football. It gets in the way of the proper game. You can't compare a group of players who train and play with each other 10 months of the year with a group who meet up for a week and a half 5 or 6 times a year, and for 3 weeks every 2 years.
International football isn't the pinnacle of the game, because the teams lack the real dynamism that you get at club level. If the sport changed to internationals every week, my opinion would change, though.
I also hate this idea that you need to win a world cup to be considered a great. That's bollox.
