Match thread Villa v Norwich Sunday 5th May 2019
Well here it is the last game of the regular season and not a lot on it really now, a draw would give Norwich the title so I think that is what they will come for and I suppose we will settle for that as we have the small matter of the play offs to contend with. We need to ensure that we have a fully fit squad for the semi finals, nothing matters other than that in my opinion, I would expect an entertaining draw 2-2, UTV

Without a full strength squad I can see us getting smashed by Pukki and us going into the play-offs with shattered confidence.

We always beat Norwich at Villa Park, but with this being a weird sort of game with nothing at stake from a Villa point of view, I’d still expect at least a draw 1-1, Neil Taylor with a 30yd screamer with his right foot.

Looks like DS has a good squad to choose from but he has a lot of things to consider, as far as DS is concerned its not just the last game of the season to think about but possibly 3 other games of massive importance, but its a nice situation to have, UTV

Enjoyable first half, we're looking equal to anything Norwich can offer even without McGinn, Grealish, Mings, El Ghazi or Tammy which is good.
Whelan's making a late push for goal of the season but needs to actually hit the target first. Still, wouldn't be surprised if he ends up on the scoresheet - no joke!

We have looked very good so far with a 2nd string team too, should be in front IMO. UTV

Hes looking sharp, can't believe the player we used to have DS really brings out the best in people.

A goal out of nowhere and suddenly Norwich have found the oomph again, pity really because our 2nd string players had taken the game to their first team squad and didn't look out of place, we now move onto the baggies, we know they will be up for it but we need to take the game to em and use our power & pace, they will be short of Robson Kanu too. Disappointing end to the season for us but better to get our first defeat in twelve out of the way today, rather than for it to happen in the play-offs, and it shouldn't affect us too much, given that we played a much weakened side.
Albion next weekend is the one that really matters.

Not too fussed with the result overall, it's a shame with the EFL rules about team changes that we couldn't have been a bit more experimental today.
Solid in defeat for the most part and today's "weaknesses" will be dealt with by fielding the strongest team next week.
