Villa v Ipswich
Another home game we should be winning but with our dodgy record against Ipswich over the years, who knows?
Both teams in dreadful form, it points to a 0-0.
Will Lambert get a positive reaction from the Villa Park faithful?
I won’t boo him but my McGrath the football he served up was dull, but he kept us up under difficult circumstances, I presume he deserves a little credit.
We must turn our fortunes around, games are running out, we can’t keep a clean sheet ,so I’m going 3-1 Villa. UTV

This has dour written all over it, I'm not looking forward to it but we desperately need 3 points so I will keep my fingers crossed. Alternatively we could turn on the style and smash em, who knows which team will turn up UTV.

Re: Villa v Ipswich
Going with what we have available (in the absence of any more defenders or a younger DM so far this window), it's time to rest Hutton and, controversial I know, but if Chester has an injury, put Hause at CB. Green will give Taylor a lot more cover, plus Hause is a left-sided CB, and if Jedi is fit we need him back at DM. El Ghazi looks more inconsistent but also more dangerous on the right than Adomah, providing he pulls his finger out and helps Bree in defence. It's a toss up between Bjarnason on the left between Jedi and Green or Kodjia supporting Tammy but I reckon the extra firepower and a bridge between midfield and striker is important here. I'd drop Hourihane simply because he isn't really a left-sided player and McGinn's in his place on the right. Most of all we need a proper DM and it seems Whelan and Hourihane aren't it, and while Jedi isn't the most mobile, he's the best we have and frankly, he's still very good.
Kalinic
Bree - Elphick - Hause - Taylor
El Ghazi - McGinn - Jedi - Green
Kodjia
Tammy

Re: Villa v Ipswich
Aside from the injury to Jack, our appalling full back options, goalkeeping howlers and disastrous defensive midfield performances, one thing that has been a noticeable problem is the loss of Tuanzebe's ability to play confidently out from the back, often carrying the ball up to halfway and beyond.
Hause is supposed to be able to do this, so I hope he gets a start.

A slightly nervy 2 - 1. Taylor poor again. El Ghazi really not worth his place.
Why do opposition teams keep scoring worldies against us?

Re: Villa v Ipswich
The worst Aston Villa side I have ever seen nervously beats certainly the worst Ipswich Town team I've ever seen. McGinn, Tammy apart, I'd happily bin the rest of them. A win is a win I guess, but boy we make it hard for ourselves. Those plates need to stop spinning and turn themselves in to players walking through the gates to sign a contract.

Re: Villa v Ipswich
It wasn’t the worst performance in the world, we missed a lot of opportunities, but Ipswich were very, very poor.
I disagree with above ref El Ghazi, he did ok, Whelan was good , McGinn was quality & Tammy had his best game, the most of seen him work.
Kalinic 5/10
Hutton 6
Taylor 5
Chester 5
Elphick 6
Connor 6
Whelan 7
McGinn 8
El Ghazi 7
Albert 7
Tammy 9
Nervy 3pts, let’s hope this breeds a little confidence
