ASSESSING THE TERRY SITUATION!!!

Post by AstonThriller on Sun Nov 05, 2017 10:35 am

Alright guys, just wanted to bring some clarity to the situation and look at what could happen as we move forward. As we all know Terry injured his fifth metatarsal bone and the common length of recovery is usually between six and twelve weeks. Now, let's look at the situation in three brackets. Six weeks, nine weeks and twelve weeks. And the fixtures he would miss.

SIX WEEKS

QPR away
Sunderland at home
Ipswich at home
Leeds away
Millwall at home
Derby away

The six-week mark would be bang on the day we play Derby, so in theory, he could be back for that.

NINE WEEKS

QPR away
Sunderland at home
Ipswich at home
Leeds away
Millwall at home
Derby away
Sheffield Utd at home
Brentford away
Boro away
Bristol at home

TWELVE WEEKS

QPR away
Sunderland at home
Ipswich at home
Leeds away
Millwall at home
Derby away
Sheffield Utd at home
Brentford away
Boro away
Bristol at home
Forest away
Barnsley at home

So, if he has to miss a full twelve weeks then that is the schedule he would miss. I've bolded the Bristol game as that is the exact day the transfer window opens. So if Terry's injury drags on and we're struggling defensively, we'd be in a position to bring someone in after that Bristol game as there's a two-week gap between that game and the Forest one. Personally, I think the first six weeks aren't too bad tbh. Three games at home isn't bad at all. I've seen some folks suggest that Jedinak should play at centre-back!!..to me that ridiculous talk and hopefully Bruce isn't that stupid. We have two EXPERIENCED centre-halfs there in Samba and Elphick. Yes, Elphick hasn't done himself any favours, but imo he's much better than a guy who's barely played at centre-back. And experimenting now when we're just about in the play-off picture would be utter madness I believe.

So in closing, this news is obviously a kick in the stomach. But I actually think Samba will step up and fill in just fine. Will we concede more? Probably. But I don't see the defence falling apart. They'll get on with it and hopefully be competent enough to win us some games along with the attack. Chester is a class act and I'd expect him to shift over to the left-hand side and Samba will be to the right of him.

Xia's said on twitter that he's out eight to ten weeks.
