Burton 1-2 Villa
Might well be an undeserved win but a win it'll be. This end of season band wagon will keep on rolling today!

Gonna be interesting to see the team selected today. Hourihane was rested on Tuesday so I wonder if he will come back in? What about Andre Green starting ahead of Amavi? Also expect Hogan to partner Jimmy aswell.
Speaking of Hogan, was watching his highlights the other day and the bloke was just deadly for Brentford. Left foot, right foot, headers etc. Many of the goals came via running off the last defender's shoulder though so hopefully there will be space for him to run into today. Just want to see some other guys score some goals now and not just Koj.

Re: Wheres the match thread
Burton ground is just around the corner from me! A Tricky game for sure, tight little ground and will be a weird experience & atmosphere for some of our players. Burton will be bang up for it and are a tough nut to crack if they play well.
Will be a tight game. They have already beaten the likes of Derby here and were very unlucky against Newcastle losing by the odd goal.
There fans are very dismissive of us as a club all being plastic Mancs, Scousers and Chelsea fans mixed in with a lot of Derby (only up the road) fans too, so i would love us to do them over badly.
Lets put it this way, at the start of the season all they were talking about was playing big clubs like Newcastle, Forest & Derby...no mention of Villa at all even though we're only a 40 minute drive away from Villa Park and Newcastle is about 3 hours away!!

I didn't even know Burton was a football club until I went over to Villa Park on boxing day. Honestly though it was a snowboard brand. Who knew.
They did fairly well that day, but we were pretty shite. I think we'll murder them today

That might keep zola in a job though - and Bristol C winning isn't a good result for the noses

Re: Wheres the match thread
Yeah the run couldn't go on the way it was as we were pretty much performing at a level the top two have. It was also ten times harder after Koj went off early. What it does highlight though is once again a midfielder has failed to score for us!!!..neither the wingers or the central midfielders can seem to hit a barn door and THIS right there, along with us bottling it away from home time and time again, is the reason why we won't be promoted this season.
Bruce MUST address this in the summer or else we'll be in exactly the same position this time next year. You can't have midfielders scoring just three goals in a season like Adomah and Grealish have. It's just not good enough compared to the other teams.

Not good but still not defeated, keep the faith building confidence takes time, anyway we all knew that it was a tall order & next season will be the one, we have to have confidence ourselves that Brucie will sort out all the above mentioned problems. Now could be the time to blood some more youngsters IMO

Re: Wheres the match thread
We just gotta keep going undefeated now. We most likely won't reach the playoffs, but finishing the season well can mean a lot for next season. Remember Leicesters turn around prior to their fluke season? The mentality bit is important. Lets keep going.

We are 100% safe that's one consolation
We are now 11 points (12 inc GD) away with 5 to play... It's 100% over sadly but then it was really several weeks ago. Results have not gone for us at all this season with the top 10 teams seldom going on bad runs at all whilst we did twice, which we all know is what has cost us.
There is definately a resilience about us now although we don't seem to ever play "well" which is weird considering the personnel we have.
I'm hoping SB has something up his sleeve to improve this for next season. Maybe that is what the "sprinkling of magic" is he was on about the other day?
As for the Burton game we clearly were not at our best so a draw is not too bad a result considering they are on their best spell of form of the season currently i'd say.
In all honesty the results went right against us today anyway and even a win would have left us 9 (effectively 10 with GD) points away with only 15 to play for. It was over regardless.
This seasons points tally for a playoff spot is looking likely to be higher than normal and could well be in the high 70's! Was never gonna happen this year.
