Villa Vs Burton - match thread
Since no one has started a match threading I will, sorry if I'm stepping on anyone's toes.
All match talk here:
I'm hoping that Westwood had too much turkey and Gardner tripped over the wishbone
Burton will come and make things hard for us but I think we will have too much for them.
I'm going for a 3-0 victory in front of our bumper crowd.

Re: Villa Vs Burton - match thread
ive put money where my mouth is today. first bet of 2016 will also be the last
ive had Grealish to score at any time 3/1
kodjia 1st scorer and 2-0 villa 20/1
grealish 1st scorer and villa 2-0 - 40/1
im really hoping for a big win but we just dont score enough goals so going conservative

Thanks for starting the thread AT did a good job last time but has obviously been kidnapped by aliens.
Going for a 2-0 win for Villa both from Kodjia either side of HT.
Should be a great atmosphere gutted I can't make it.

Re: Villa Vs Burton - match thread
I did wonder whether today might be that elusive match where everything comes together and we get a big win. Many were predicting that it would come against Wigan, and in the end we only just about won that game right at the end.
I wouldn't rule out a big score, but I think I read the other day that we've only won about three Boxing day Games in twenty-odd years and Burton haven't taken many thrashings this season as far as I can recall.
I've got a feeling this is going be another close one. I'm sure Burton will play out of their skins, I'll be grateful for three points however which way they come.

Re: Villa Vs Burton - match thread
It'll be a tough game, Burton were very unlucky to lose in fact to not WIN against the Barcodes (Newcastle players comment to Burton player after the game apparently) last week and all the pressure is on Villa today.
Leaving within the hour with my daughter & everything crossed we win today as traveling from Burton and fed up of all the sneering plastic Liverpool, Man u & Chelsea ""never attend a game but love taking the P out of Villa"" Burtonians who are way above their station at the moment.
Has disaster written all over it though as we are unbeaten at home, they haven't won away!... Here's hoping Villa decide to turn up today which is, lets face it, a big "?" this season.

I'm going to be positive, the boys will be really up for it in front of a sell-out crowd, Burton on the other hand won't have seen anything like it, could be a good score, BRING IT ON.

Don't know why, got a feeling Gardner's going to do well today. Maybe even pop up with a goal or two. Hopefully him signing a contract gives him a bit of a boost.

Burton equalize. And our play sounds like it's really scrappy yet again. You'd think against struggling Championship teams we'd be able to keep the ball.

Everytime the commentary mention Kodjia he seems to lose the ball. Burton all over us at the moment.

Re: Villa Vs Burton - match thread
are we really getting battered at home to Burton. It sounds like we're being hammered. 68-32% possession to Burton, 6-0 corners to Burton, shots and shots on target. Assively in their favour too. I haven't been able to see any of it yet but this looks bad from BBC

Scrappy at present, so theres only one way to go, lets hope they get a rocket & get theirselves sorted in the 2nd half, frustrating at present.

Re: Villa Vs Burton - match thread
That first-half sounded awful. lucky to be level. For a long time we were said to be due to batter somebody, but from what I've seen and heard in recent games, it's us who are due to get battered, if we don't improve asap.

I'd get Grealish on for the second half.

Re: Villa Vs Burton - match thread
Will Burton sit back a bit too much last 10 minutes to try to hold on to a draw and enable Grealish to create something?
That seems to be the only way we're going to score a second as although Burton don't have such great stats for their second half performance Villa's aren't much better than their first effort so far.
Edit: we scored just moments after I posted. UTV. We won!

McCormack's goal...

Closing the gap on the play-offs now, and above sha in the table.

Fucking get the Fucking Fuck in!!!!!! as the baby Jesus was often heard to say.
My pleasure at the Villa win is inversely proportionate to my hatred for BBC radio 5 and Mark adenoid Chapman. Here's me cooxking a fierce Boxing Day turkey curry listening to 5 live and I don't even think they reported the goal, had to see it on TBAR first. I swear the BBC hates the Midlands, I really do. Hope VP went mental when we scored the winner.

Just got back in.
I know it was shit, you know it was shit and now we're are above the shit.
To play so bad and win can only be a good sign, right???

Bruce has taken us from relegation zone to 10th with ugly grinding wins and no squad depth and an unbalanced team thanks to RDM. Until the transfer window results matter more than performances.

He was offside 3 times but tbf to him all he had all day was long balls launched up to him apart from the miss kick in box when adomah fired over st8 after.deadbuzzardalive wrote:Everytime the commentary mention Kodjia he seems to lose the ball. Burton all over us at the moment.

Scrapy but 3 points is 3 points. Looking forward to the transfer window massively.
