Your predictions please....
Derby v Villa match thread
Poll added so have your say.
It'll be interesting to see if Jedi plays but all indications so far say he won't.
Will we last the full 90 minutes without running out of steam or having a defensive lapse?
As it's an away game there's no GTC this week (but we might have some news in that too shortly!).
2-1 Villa is my guess.

Derby were a good team last year and under Pearson I'd imagine they'll be equally as dangerous. That said, they've not scored much this season. I feel it will be another 1-1 with them equalising

Our guys learn fast and have more fight then last year. If we can find a better intensity balance to our work ethic over the 90mins and the forwards are on song, then I think we blow them away. 2-0 win for me.

I voted a loss, but I've changed my mind. Draw. Maybe 1-1.
I'm 3 for 4 correct so far. Money piling up.

Gone for a scrape through win. Mind you we do seem to have a good record against Derby if memory serves me correctly.
A win and a hard earnt 3 points, and we are on the goggle box

Scrape a win. Derby won last night but have been far from impressive and I don't think Pearson is the right fit for them longterm

1-1, a solid point away at Derby would be a decent result, after Tuesday there are signs things are coming together.

Would be ok with a draw from this... lots of former Villa players will be determined to beat us and Derby can be very good on their day home or away. Really hope we win as it's just up the road from me and got sick of hearing all through last season about how they would beat us etc! Getting it off Burton fans now too! I so hope we bring them both down to Earth with a bang this season for my own sanity

What worries me though now is teams will soon pick up on the fact we go ragged in the last 3rd of the game..So will surely just sit back, keep it tight and not concede then go for us in the last stage of the game!..We need to sort that QUICK!

Indeed! Was it John Terry who said the same about us a few years back when Stan was still playing?
Are Championship players just fitter purely because there are so many more games per season and it's all blood and thunder as opposed to passing it to death like what happens in the Prem? Because if that's the case, the experience in this league will certainly serve us well when we do bounce back.

Re: Derby v Villa match thread
We've lost one and drawn another due to pressure put on the goalie and a lack of luck. I think the management will be working on that and we'll be better defensively. If the Jedi starts I think we'll be ok, if we're in the lead and he or Tshibola are looking tired we can bring on Gardner and Westwood and take off an attacking player.
I've gone for a scraped win, and think we can do well, if the mistakes are cut out.

By all accounts Jedi has also been tiring in the last part of games hence Palace selling him.. so maybe he can be used sensibly i.e. coming on to defend a lead in a tight game on occasion whilst starting others?? This way it would keep him fresh ...I see him as one to rotate to get the best advantage from him...
But then what do i know?!

Strange how Weimann has struggled in the championship. I always liked him and thought he would tear it up down here.

Re: Derby v Villa match thread
At Wednesday we were the better team in the second half until that silly goal so I'm not sure there's a big issue with our fitness in the latter stages of games. Maybe the drop off against Huddersfield was more about playing three days later that was the issue? If so that's something RDM will have to handle.

Looks like Bent is out injured (or was) and has been overlooked for another striker. That's a shame really...I think we all know what to expect from Bent.
Looking at a Rams forum, not one of them had Weimann in the starting line up or as a sub so maybe he's crocked too. I'd have been interested to see what kind of welcome he received - the lad always gave his (limited) best but I'm sure the neanderthals in our end would boo him. And his headless chicken routine would baffle someone like Cissokho so maybe it's a good thing if he's out.

Re: Derby v Villa match thread
I liked Weimann as a central striker, but he was always played on the right of a 4-3-3. From what I understand, Derby played him on the right or wing too. Sure, he can run, and he always puts in lots of effort, but the way Lambert set up the side didn't suit him at all. It was the equivalent of putting Bent on the right, and getting him to run round the pitch defending, and criticising him when his one opportunity to score came up.

I think they've used him the same way at Derby and their fans have come to the exact same conclusion. Amazing that managers don't see it.

Sky saying the Jedi Master could start tomorrow so I'm assuming his Visa issues have been cleared

I think we could see Tshibola influencing things further up the pitch. I really like the kid and sticking an experienced head next to him who will be vocal and offer him encouragement and direction will drive him forwards.
I also think being able to bring on Westwood's legs when we are flagging will make the difference. Westy is limited but has energy and workrate which is what we lacked towards the end on Tuesday.
1-0 to the Villa I reckon. A goal just after halftime and then a professional shut-out orchestrated by Elphick and Jedi
