Hopefully the clubs will ensure that current players learn from the experiences of others. Having said that, there are more than a few sugarbag footballers I'd like to see go to the wall.

Footballers know that their earning power will finish usually in their early 30's, unfortunately a lot of them refuse to except the fact and spend, spend, spend. The lifestyle is addictive.

How can anyone feel sorry for him? He was probably on £40000 + a WEEK!!! Im sorry but if you earn that and go bankrupt, you deserve no sympathy. Im barely on £20k a year, struggling to pay off credit cards and trying to get my on house. Im about £17k in debt but Im not bankrupt.
Sorry, but I have no sympathy.

There's certainly a cultural element of excess amongst players. Cars, houses, lavish spending. And no doubt a lot of hangers-on to bleed them dry. Young men, lots of money, lots of temptation. ..its understandable.

Question is, what the fuck are their agents doing? Surely there more to it than getting contracts signed and skimming 15% off the top?

An agent might argue that that is the job of the clubs. Their job, in their eyes, is to negociate their client the best deal possible.
