Re: Next seasons new kits 2014/15
I liked last season's originally then got it as a Christmas present and didn't. The 'claret' isn't claret in my view. I thought there was a bit too much going on with it.
In fact that's my main complaint about Macron. There's just too much going on with the kits, simple is always best.

I liked the shirt but the collar wasn't to my liking.

Nice looking shirt …. not a fan of Macron …. Hate the sponsor, betting companies should be banned as sponsors imo.

The collar didn't know what it was supposed to be on last year's kit. I liked the blue down the sides but thought the shade of claret was off. Put it next to a couple of old kits and it looked like a completely different colour.

Its growing on me. More interested in the away kit to be honest. If it is white with the claret pinstripe I'll be looking into getting one.

I like it, but the fact that it's been made by Macron and will probably fall apart after 3 washes will stop me paying full price for it.

When does the Macron deal expire? This is the third year, is their going to be a fourth? I really hope we go back to a more established manufacturer when this deal expires.

Yeah mate there's 1 more season left after this until the deal expires. It was 4 years from the summer of 2012 I think.

I hear a lot of people saying that but I've had my 2012/13 kit since the start of that season and I wear it to training twice a week. It hasn't faded, had any of it's stitching come apart or anything. Did I just happen to get a good one...?

Re: Next seasons new kits 2014/15
Thanks for replying guys, so just one more year of Macron, great!
Mine was a Christmas present and it has lasted quite well, but, it's just the colour and the design I have an issue with. I don't think it's claret.

The new kit reminds me of Palace's kit from the late 60s. I think their's had thicker stripes.

We had an away kit in 1999/2000 which looked very like an old Palace change kit from the early 80s. Of course, that was the last time that we had a striped home kit.
Here's an extract from an article on our new kit in SB nation:

Here's an extract from an article on our new kit in SB nation:
For the first time in a decade-and-a-half, Aston Villa will wear vertical stripes on their traditional claret and blue home kits. Unlike the last time that the Villans had stripes on their shirt, Macron have gone away from the thick (and admittedly ugly) alternating color stripes in favor of a very classy blue pinstripe on a claret background.
The shirt features a frankly stunning polo collar that matches the body of the shirt but carries the club's sky blue color forward by piping the collar's edge and button holes with it. The opening is a slick, very sharp V with wonderfully detailed embroidery at its base for a classic look. The shirt's sleeves are also blue for a nice contrasted look from the rest of the shirt. The shirt features a gold lion on the back of the neck while the lower back features a subtle emboss of the words "EST 1874" as a nod to the club's founding date.

I don't really like the colour claret so never really like any of our home shirts. I remember the acorns home shirt was a nice claret (the one on Farrell_10 icon) but other than that, iv always felt they look cheap. The best home shirts are for teams with one colour like Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and Man City.
Macron and Hummell made some of the ugliest Villa shirts iv seen. Reebok were cheap looking with the patterned material, Diadoras first few shirts were crap too. Nike was the best in there first two seasons.
Also prefer kits with simple looking sponsors like acorns and rover. Hate the sponsors that have colours on like ntl, ldv, and muller or ones that use symbols like dafabet, 32red and Gentings.
Also, how come Celtic and Rangers when they had ntl the logos changed to match the shirt, but when we had them, we had to have a horrible purple and green logo on our shirt?!

Dream Villa Kits
Home A simple dark claret shirt and blue sleeves, with blue adidas stripes connecting the sleeve and simple blue trimmed v-neck collar. Adidas as the kit supplier and apple as the sponsor (just a simple apple icon as the sponsor).
Away Pure white all over with claret/blue/claret adidas stripes. White adidas logo and apple logo so they don't stand out and just a claret lion as the badge (no shield or circle) with AVFC beneath it.

Re: Next seasons new kits 2014/15
The issue I have with macron
in a big guy, 6"3 and well built, i brought the first macron shirt in XL, it was snug around the shoulders and chest, like a fucking bin bag elsewhere, i got last seasons kit, after sizing it up in the club shop and it being a more fitted than the previous year, i went for the XXL, the result is a shirt that could cut off the circulation to my head if worn for long enough
never had issues with kit sizes before, every nike shirt i brought fitted great, then along come macron with shirts modelled to fit the elephant man.
having seen this years kit, ill give it a miss i think
