Villa vs Leicester 8th December 2019

1 - 4 loss.

This game is an important marker. Leicester showed all our weaknesses, up front and in defence.

We played today like I play Fifa but without a threat in the air from set pieces. Took every opportunity to hack down the more talented opposition for no reason either to disrupt their flow or just because it’s funny. This Villa team probably did it for the first reason and it didn’t work.

Jack Grealish and El Ghazi are our only two players on form.* I’m convinced after today’s performance if we don’t buy Christian Beneteke back from Crystal Palace and Tottenham come in with a massive bid Jack WILL leave Villa during the winter transfer window. He might love Villa but only an idiot would stick around. He is wasted here and can't improve. Someone in the pub I was in called him a diamond stuck in a dog turd. True on today’s performance.

‘Super’ John McGinn looks like a £4 million journeyman without Grealish behind him in midfield.

We can’t score from set pieces, even with a free-kick getting machine. We can’t defend them either.

Without a transfer fix in the central defence, especially upfront, we will concede 4 goals many times again and keep wasting good chances and be relegated. Having had time over last few months to assess the other teams in the league I think there are 2 teams worse than this current Villa side, Watford and Bournemouth because of their injury crisis.

We simply can’t score. The fact we keep on scoring every game is pretty much down to Grealish.

We were very poor today but things didnt go for us, injuries and the usual officiating which made things extra hard, having said that Leicester were on their game, movement, pressure pace and we had no answer for it, we all knew we had a tough run of games and lets be fair we have done better than we all expected, today the wheels came off. In the next 5 games we have a chance to get something out of them, also in the next 12 games we have to play Southampton twice, Watford twice and also Sheffield Utd, the first 2 have been in poor form of late so long may it continue, keep the faith things WILL get better.
