2 : 0 win
It's the result we needed. Newcastle's best player was Saint-Maximan but we somehow managed to hold him off. I like him. They didn't play like a team with confidence though. Neither did we initially.
McGinn is playing like shit. He'll get his form back. Playing for Villa again must be a come-down after Scotland.
Grealish created chances and failed to take a couple. It was so important to have him back. Involved in everything good we did. Needs to work on his shooting. I'm getting that Giggsy 'he's going to miss' feeling when he tees it up now but I think his shooting can be better than that.
Hourihane has a magic wand of a left foot. He scored and created the other.
With better finishing we would have scored 4 (and maybe Newcastle should have got 1).
Konsa did well. Should keep his place after our first clean sheet of the season.

Overall it was a good result for us, towards the end you could see us trying to see out the game, hopefully we build on that against Utd. UTV

In a post-match interview on Sky Grealish says he sees himself more as a #8 than his current position further up the pitch on the wing.
I've just educated myself on what a #8 is and I can understand where he's coming from https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-difference-between-a-6-and-a-8-in-soccer-football
Presumably Grealish began the season as a #8 because he was in the middle of the park then. I thought he was too tippy-tappy and ineffectual from that position and we weren't strong enough in defence. McGinn is not defensive midfielder so we can't have them both in the middle. We need to sell McGinn and buy a really strong defensive midfielder if we want Grealish to play there in the PL.
I also think he's most exciting when he dribbles and he can do that more on the wing but I guess being the most fouled footballer in soccer isn't the best experience or use of your talents.

Forgot about that.
So used to us conceding for various reasons.
We have an okay defence but I'm waiting for a clean sheet against one of the top six to be really impressed.
