Former Aston Villa striker Stan Collymore has urged the club’s supporters to get behind the team despite behind-the-scenes turmoil.

The Midlands outfit have suspended coaches Ian Culverhouse and Gary Karsa, who are now the subject of an unspecified internal investigation, leaving boss Paul Lambert’s future up in the air.
Both men are long-serving deputies of the under-pressure Scot, who will be assisted by Shay Given and Gordon Cowans for the rest of the campaign.
Ex-England international Collymore, who played for Villa between 1997 and 2000, is also a supporter of the club.
He took to social media site Twitter to issue a rallying cry to fellow fans and revealed his hope that there is a calm togetherness in the dressing room for the weekend showdown with Southampton at Villa Park.
He said: “Villa faithful ,as always, turn up, cheer the boys on, regroup in the summer and let's hope everyone is unified v Saints in that dressing room.”

Everybody is on the same hymn sheet. Reminds me of past games against Newcastle in the Houllier season and QPR last year.

Its alright Stan coming out with that now. He must know that everyone would lay off a bit anyway, without his advice, due to the recent sackings and subsequent appointments.

I cant stand Collymore. One of the biggest rent-a-quote gobshites in media land...

He talks some sense but he doesn't practise what he preaches so I take a lot of his comments with a pinch of salt.

I like Collymore as a media personality (probably a big part of that is down to his pro-Villa stance) but wouldn't necessarily agree with everything he says.

Especially if he says you should go to the car park with him.

I have more respect for Stan now than I did when he was a player.
Aside from that wonder strike against Athletico Madrid and a few good performances against Liverpool and Spurs, he was a major let down for us.

I saw him in the EE shop the other week. Seems a nice enough guy.
