Re: Match thread Wigan v Villa 12.01.2019
I was hoping but wasn't expecting us to win today, I'm not expecting us to win against Hull either in a weeks time either. For all the talk of how good our squad is, the only players I'd be disappointed to see leave are Chester, Tuanzebe, McGinn, Grealish and Abraham.

The way we perform no one will expect us to beat Hull so we will probably have a blinder

I cannot understand that we lost Tuanzebe Grealish suddenly the team is woeful, so it might be true that he has lost the dressing room, it's a big problem for DS, how can he get this team back to winning ways, and he looks well down in the dumps.fingers crossed that he can turn this around.

Hull are actually above us in the table now having won six games in a row. They will be full of confidence next week. For us it will be the first of two home games in a row, if we get a couple of wins it could turn our season around, I'm not counting on it though.

Is that true that after loosing to swansea....the players watched man city v burton a ....with smith pointing out tactics etc ?
If he has lost the dressing room you can see why.

No, it was very much a joke.
Honestly, I still can't believe what an embarassment it was having Taylor and Hause on the pitch today.

He actually did say at his press conference that he made them watch the Man City v Liverpool game, to show them how hard you need to work to reach that level. It obviously didn't work, needs to come up with something, and fast.

If this is real, I genuinely didn't know when I predicted 10-0 after showing them City vs Albion

The worst thing about that 9-0 Burton defeat, is that Burton actually beat us, and knocked us out of the competition.

Its takes a video of Man City v Liverpool to get the point accross that our players need to work harder ?
Incredible if true. predictably it appears to have zero impression.

Two woeful performances in a row and free falling down the league? Are we jinxed? With a team containing Bolaise, El Ghazi and Abarham we get bossed by Wigan?

Along with Middlesborough, Nottingham Forest and Burnley, what's your point? They've outlasted 88 other teams and technically are still in the competition. Doubt any of the other 87 teams are having a pity party over it, sometimes in football mad things just happen and I'm fully rooting for them to turn City over in the second leg. Up the Brewers!

WORK RATE & EFFORT that is what we are really missing IMO, we might have skill & class ??????? but those first two attributes make the difference in this league, the other teams have it and tend to show it even more against us we just need to be doing it more, we have been put to the sword in the last 3 games by weakened & poorer teams because they were in our face from the off, until we start to work our socks off we will carry on like this, if you look on other Villa sites they are going into meltdown slagging off DS, most of the problem is as above plus some mediocre players, I'm confident that DS will sort it tho.

I hope he does - really if DS doesn't come good we are in a very dark place indeed. Not sure I am that hopeful though, his win % at his previous clubs isn't anything to get excited about - He left Brentford with 0 wins in his last 5 matches.

I agree. I just watched the 'high'lights from the Wigan match and we looked woeful. For the first goal their player passed the ball round Taylor, who just gave up and watched. No shots on goal is embarrassing.

Taylor looks like he just doesn't care. We need to get in a left-back asap, people are turning their noses up at him, but I'd take Fuchs until the end of the season, if we can't get Rico Henry.
