Match Thread: Millwall v Villa 3.00pm 6/10/18

I did the last two match threads. Undefeated and got rid of Potato Head.
Hoping third time is a charm for a win. Score 1 - 2 to Villa with the players given some freedom of expression.
No cabbages.

We really need to be winning this one, they're in the bottom three, so no reason why it should be impossible. Hopefully the players step up their game in order to impress the new manager.

MacDonald doing his best imitation of Bruce with the line-up... Leaving out all our wingers, and not even having El Ghazi on the bench.

What did you expect, the guy is a clown!

Millwall to win 4 - 2 for their first win of the season (can we sack MacDonald then)?

Half time. 1 - 1. Villa looked ok until about the 20 minute mark when Millwall put some pressure on. Needless freekick. Beaten at the far post and knocked down to untracked scorer.
Defensively, we are very unsteady. We play it around ok in their half but no penetration.
Henry is allegedly at the game. Hopefully, he will see something to work with but, defensively, the Jan window cannot come soon enough. I fear we will be well out of touch by then.
The U23's were superb last night. Won 8-0 and press, pass and move all evening. I hope the new Coach has the bottle make use of our young talent.

Bruce left us with a completely unbalanced first team squad. We are so poor.
I resign as Match Thread poster.

That's one win in ten now, relegation form.

We are a team once again in disarray. Today was never going to mark a sudden turnaround. Time for us all to take off our shitting pants and put our big boy pants on.

I kind of get the feeling that with the new manager watching Kmac was going to show him the players playing how Bruce had them set up, so he knows what he has to work with and where it's going wrong (or right). I'm not suggesting we were set up to lose, but by throwing on the defence he did (with Hutton at CB, who's hardly been on fire these last few matches at LB) he was trying not to lose and in essence being no better than Bruce. Virtually the same attacking players, hoping for some individual brilliance, if we lose he can blame the players.

Such a shame Bedeau wasn't involved and Kmac didn't set us up to try to win. Ho hum, it seems it was just one match. But now four wins away from automatic promotion? It's going to be a long season and whoever the new manager is, I hope they're ready for it.

At the press conference when asked about Bruce, MacDonald seemed gutted that he was gone, and also said he wouldn't change much because Bruce was on the right track... And for me that's where we went wrong today, MacDonald should have had the nerve to do his own thing, rather than put out a team as a tribute to his mate... A big opportunity wasted to get back on track... And as I say at the moment we're in relegation form, with just nine points from the last ten, of course I don't think we'll actually go down, but that's not the point, the point is unless we improve drastically we'll be nowhere near in contention for promotion.

Kmac has done it before with team selection and he will do it again if he gets the opportunity, he inspires nobody and he epitomises a lot of what is wrong down at Villa Park.

Just sack him!

... and no he doesn't coach the U23's, Delaney does.
