I too switched on at half time.
Another cracking goal from Green and some great play from the Scottish Cafu to set Green up for the second. Green's really making a case for himself!

Green's goal, is well worth watching, for anyone that missed it... The less said about Steer's mistake the better...

Green playing through the middle is a good idea. on the wing, I think he lacks anticipation and isn't the greatest crosser of the ball. Down the middle, he has less time to think about it and does it naturally, quick too.

Yeah i really hope the new lad is decent cos steer is liable too often.
They tried to give jacky boy a kicking though didnt they?
Hutton did well for green's header but feck me i hope hes not pencilled in as part of a back three cos he cant play out with the ball.
Apparently we were crap first half with elmo awol. Be ironic if necessity being the mother of invention reveals that green would be a very effective number 9 (or maybe no. 10).
Still, a win is a win but ive literally no idea how our pre-season will translate into the first match against Hull.

Re: Preseaon friendlies 2018
Steer made a great save later on and I would rather he made that mistake in a friendly than in a 'real' game.
Hopefully that is out of the way and he has learnt from it.
The side looked all over the place and a particularly bad first half (yet again), much improved in the second half but it took a special goal from Green to get us back level.
Played with no centre forward which was interesting but I haven't a clue what Bruce actually learnt from that friendly or indeed what his side for the first game will be.

There will be no fine to pay.
The punishment is not a fine.
The punishment is a transfer embargo.
What would be the point off FFP, if you could just pay a fine, ffs?

Is investment in the academy included in FFP?
APPENDIX B – Net Expenditure on Youth Development Activities
1 Introduction
1.1 The Fair Play Requirement allows a Championship Club to exclude expenditure on Youth Development Activities from expenses in arriving at the Fair Play Result because the aim is to encourage investment and expenditure on facilities and activities for the long-term benefit of the Championship Club.

No worries.
Obviously it waffles on forever in legalese.

Re: Preseaon friendlies 2018
Watched that game in Germany all the way through and for the most part we were very poor. The Steer mistake was coming as he had a couple of very odd moments before that when he looked totally clueless on the pace of the game and dawdled in his area instead of just running towards the ball. It was like he had no sense of time or something really weird and it was no surprise when he misjudged the pace of the ball causing their goal.
Green was largely anonymous other than for the goals and constantly wasted good positions through poor choices or execution of pass. A shame as if he could sort those issues out he'd be decent.
As for the rest? Well basically MEH! Grealish was the old ineffective Grealish with lots of possession but no end product. Yes he got fouled a lot but he did nothing effective of note with the ball.
That's surely not the starting 11 though thank goodness.

It never ceases to amaze me that we'll play anyone but an academy striker as striker. Not just us either, every manager seems to fear playing someone without experience when there's a spare midfielder (or defender: see Samba) kicking around.

Re: Preseaon friendlies 2018
The game reminded me of the first season Bruce was here.
Eleven individuals put out on the field hoping that someone would produce a bit of magic to win the game.
Green did it yesterday and Kodjia did it a lot in the first season.
Some things just never change!
