Haven't followed how we've played but a 4-2 win away from home is a great result.

Plus Blues are fucked.
Plus Ireland beat Wales.

I'm off to drink my body weight in Guinness. Up the Villa!!!

Unbelievable, now lets get Grealish and Adomah back and hunt down Wolves. Glad to see Hourihane get on the scoresheet again as well, I think he comes in for a quite a bit of unfair criticism, can't believe people would prefer Lansbury.

I love Hourihane. I think he does a great job of filling space in midfield both defensively and offensively.

His goals are vital as well, he's our second leading goalscorer.

Well we lived on VERY thin ice today but came away with the 3 points which is all that matters, I thought it would be tight but bloody hell that was close. Now we just have to keep it together and move on UPWARDS, can't believe Whelan scored a vital goal maybe he will become a colossus for us. Dancing Banana Dancing Banana

LOL this thread just totally sums up why I mentioned the word "bottle". We've got to have more faith when the chips are down guys. The boys are working their socks off and they deserve more support when their backs are against the wall. Today was a massive result imo when you consider who we had missing. Yes Wed had their own injuries, but Adomah, Kodjia and Grealish are major players to have out.

Today also personified just how vital our midfield has been this season. When we've needed something to happen it's more often than not been a midfielder who has produced. Snoddy and Hourihane once again stood up to be counted. Grabben getting some goals also bodes well for us when the big two return.

Now we get to sit back and see what Cardiff have to say, hopefully it's a positive result for us.

Good post AT - spot on about the midfield.
Whatever our frustrations about selection and positioning at times, it's undeniable that the midfield have delivered in buckets this season and we definitely look much more of a team nowadays.
You are right we need more faith sometimes, but being a Villa fan is an up and down pastime isn't it? Thinking "right, let's watch as we blow this" isn't a positive approach I agree, but bloody hell Villa have form in that department.
I do have to say though that despite the fact we haven't actually won anything yet this season (i mean promotion or cup run-wise) it feels like stability is returning which will help massively in our push for auto promotion.

Big shout out to Grabban too. He oozes quality and will be a massive help in getting up. 14 in 21 this season is very impressive!

Just seen it pointed out, that on 'Owlstalk' there's a nine page thread accusing yesterday's referee of matchfixing.

As if any club would risk that, just to beat Sheffield Wednesday.

They're using the our low foul count (I don't think we committed a single foul in the first half) as part of their evidence, I didn't see the game but from what I've read I'd imagine that that was probably more to do with us being poor than anything to do with the Ref, and they still couldn't take advantage, just one of those days for them, that every teams has.

On a quick skim read I even saw talk of the freemasons and the Illuminati being involved, because the FA want us back in the Premier league, I had no idea we were that important.

I think they're bitter from when they thought they were going to sign Hourihane, and even had a 100 plus pages thread on him on there and he joined us instead.

Christ almighty what a bunch of bedwetters. I've never in my life seen such a load of sad fecks bleating on and on for 10 pages. Masons, illuminati, conspiracy, bent refs, bent FA, Asian betting syndicates, undue influence by John Terry, the ref allowing Steve Bruce to rub his head, bent referees assistants.
Not really ever had much to do with Wednesday fans but if that forum is indicative of them I have to come to the conclusion they are as paranoid, delusional and bitter as the slum dwellers from B9.

Just watched the highlights - how on earth did we win that!

Is it me or is Terry looking like he's not quite physically up to playing every week?

How on earth Villa was not losing that about 4 - 1 at half time who knows, it was a total shambles with Whelan nowhere in sight protecting the back four, although the defence was all over the place as well!
Basically we dug out a result in spite of us looking all over the shop, which shows resilience and determination, helped out by an occasional touch of class from our players. It was good to see the huddle at the final whistle which shows that the squad has a great team spirit which we will need as the season comes to a conclusion, all good signs.

We scored four goals, improved our GA and more importantly got the three points but by McGrath didn't we make hard work of it!

Whelan's face and body language when he scored was great. I just wish he was a 75th-minute sub who could come on and scowl at people if we had at least a two-goal lead. He could probably do 15-20 minutes of action but as someone who the opposition can just stroll past we may as well get Westwood back (although Whelan doesn't give away the penalties or aim shots at the floodlights like Westwood did).

It was his first goal since 2011. Even Gabby's scored since then.
