Villa Park in Commonwealth Games
Apparently it is going to be the home of the rugby 7s in the Birmingham games.
Not seen anything yet but would this be the springboard for improvments to the ground?

Re: Villa Park in Commonwealth Games
Wyness had this to say...
Chief Executive Keith Wyness has reacted with delight to news today that Birmingham has won the Commonwealth Games 2022 bid, saying: “Our city will deliver like never before – and Aston Villa will be front and centre”.
Birmingham was chosen ahead of Liverpool as Britain's candidate – and it was confirmed as the host of the prestigious event this morning by the Commonwealth Games Federation.
He said: “We are absolutely thrilled to see the Games coming to Birmingham.
“From personal experience, having been involved in the Sydney Olympics and the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, I am acutely aware of how this can impact a city and how important it is for the sporting landscape of the city – and also the excitement of people getting involved around a big event.
“It’s tremendous and I am pleased that Aston Villa, as always, is right at the front and centre of a major community initiative.
“We have been heavily involved behind the scenes in terms of the bidding process and we will now carry on with a major role in terms of execution.
“We will make sure it’s a once in a lifetime event for the whole of the region.
“I have 100% confidence that Birmingham will deliver the best Games.
“My own knowledge of being in the city for the past couple of years, it’s clear that there will be a huge welcome from the people – and there’s a huge appetite for sports.
“I just know with the international focus being on Birmingham for those few weeks, this city will deliver like never before.
“I know we will make everyone proud and I believe it will galvanise all the communities together. I can’t wait to get started.”
The club has already played a big role in the bid - showing off our world-respected sporting facility Villa Park to Games inspectors and impressing on them the wealth of big-event experience within the company.
Now Wyness is determined that Aston Villa will be at the forefront of delivering the Games.
He continued: “We hosted an inspection group here and not only could they see our amazing facility Villa Park which will obviously host the Rugby Sevens, they also began to understand the experience on our staff of hosting major events.
“That was key for me – letting them know that we understood what was coming - and our ability to anticipate scenarios and solutions.
“But it’s not just about Villa Park for me, either. Certainly, from a Recon point of view, it’s about solutions to various elements – for example, athlete villages.
“We will continue to play our role in a much broader vision of what Aston Villa and Recon can do.”
Wyness is confident that the Games will create a magnificent legacy for the city of Birmingham – and he’s eager for the Second City to be a focal point for all UK sports going-forward.
He added: “What I want to pioneer is to get as many sports governing bodies as possible to relocate to Birmingham.
“Obviously with things like HS2 coming, we think this could become a major sporting hub.
“That’s what I would like to see develop out of the Commonwealth Games legacy – and I think Aston Villa could play a big part across the sporting spectrum.
“I think Aston Villa could offer some very interesting solutions - and I certainly think Birmingham would be the right location for those sporting bodies.
“If we could create that sporting hub, it would be tremendous.”

Be nice if a new North Stand was opened for the games
