Aston Villa vs Sheffield Wednesday match thread
Not much to say lads. Think it will probably be the same side as yesterday with Koj maybe coming back if his ankle heals up in time. Wednesday have had an indifferent start to the season but with them making the playoffs two years on the spin they can never be taken lightly. They won their last game so should be in good form but so did we so I'd expect a decent encounter here. Hope to see Grealish or O'Hare on the bench at least as the bench was way too defensive against Preston.
COME ON VILLA!!!

How we played last night will be a real confidence boost for the team, Wednesday are a tidy team and will give it a go, but I think we will be trying to lay down a marker on how we have progressed, bring it on, a storming 2-1 win for me.

2-0 Villa for me.
Wednesday winless in 6 on the road and a defence lacking in confidence. Whilst Jordan Rhodes is one to watch, it also seems that there's a lot of fan discontent with Carvalhal and they seem to reflect some of our frustrations regarding an expensively assembled squad and a manager who can't decide on a set team or formation and who is seen as tactically inflexible by many Owls supporters.
I do think we have a well performing, hard to beat defence now and if we continue the momentum we have built we should have too much for them. I hope so as I want to go into yet another interminably boring 2 week international break (why the feck does the championship stop when England are playing friendlies - not like were supplying half the team is it?) with the happy feeling of onwards and upwards. I don't want to endure a fortnight of teeth grinding cos we were crap and blew a chance to consolidate in the play off positions.

Going to be an interesting line-up, Kodjia, Snodgrass and Onomah are all doubts for Saturday but Grealish, Lansbury and O'Hare all fit for a start, Going for a 3-1 win.
It also looks like there could be a live stream for the game just seen it listed as being televised by Digi Sport 1, Sportdigital tv, TV6 (Swe) and SportKlub 4, Will post up a link if I find one tomorrow.

Yeah if anything I hope Snoddy can make it out of those three as it would make things easier to deal with. But, if they are all out then these are the combinations that could be played tomorrow.

So there's a plethora of ways he could switch things around. I think the one he goes for is probably one of the last two. It would mean the side wouldn't be too different from what it has been and only minimal changes would occur. Hell, he could even play 442 with Hogan and leave both Jack and O'Hare on the bench if he wants because Wednesday tend to play 442 themselves so we'd be matching up with them.

Hope it is the last team named by @AstonThriller and that O'Hare gets his chance, if those injury doubts are confirmed.
Whatever team put out I am going for a win of 3 - 1, about time I came away from Villa Park jumping for joy at the performance!

Yeah, I wouldn't mind that tbh, especially if we play a genuine number ten like Grealish or O'Hare. But it seems like Whelan is Bruce's number one right now and it's no surprise considering he signed him. Not too fussed as Jedi has his role right now and will be vital to us in the xmas period when we'll need to rotate much more.

Can't change a winning side (unless injuries force the issue) whatever @jimbop might think!
To be fair Whelan apparently played very well in midweek.

Yeah he did tbh. I think he's finally starting to find his feet here after some early struggles. Same happened with Jedi but he grew stronger and stronger as the season went on.

Re: Aston Villa vs Sheffield Wednesday match thread
I would love to see O'Hare as our number 10 but that wont happen with Bruce in charge and I would also retain Hutton at LB (Chap's not put a foot wrong since filling that gap) maybe give Lansbury a run.
Nice line-ups by the way @AstonThriller

Re: Aston Villa vs Sheffield Wednesday match thread
Can't say I'm too confident of a win here, we're unbeaten at home, which probably means we're due a defeat, I mean all runs have to come to an end at some point and that works twofold as Wednesday haven't won away in ages.
But it's like Terry says, other teams keep winning, and so we have to too, to stay in with a chance.

Re: Aston Villa vs Sheffield Wednesday match thread
I tell you what as well, anyone who said Terry was here for a payday and would cruise his way through the season need to be eating those words now. Whatever the bloke has been like off the pitch, bloody he'll but he's an example on it.
I feel a bit sad actually that he didn't play for us when we were regularly getting 40k plus crowds cos whilst Stamford bridge can be noisy, Villa park in its pomp on full volume is a sight to behold.
I thought he'd do a job for us but he's proving even more valuable as the season progresses. Looking for another captain's performance from him tomorrow.
