I would love this guy but whilst we are a Championship club we have no hope of prizing him away from Celtic especially as they are in the Group stages of the CL this year?
Joppe to be fair to BFR he had come from Wednesday yes but also had some top flight experience with the Tesco Carrier Bags and Manure??
SBL had worked as a youth coach with us for many years after he finished playing working for SRS, he also worked his way up the leagues and had got Leicester promoted to PL before he joined us?
JG had also been assistant under SBL whilst he was manager for Leicester and us so knew the club and SBL well (having also played for us for 2 years and covered every outfield position In the team)?
IMO these managers had a far greater pedigree than Dean Smith?

I think it's fairly similar. But you are correct regarding Big Ron. However when we took the punt on these guys, we were arguably among the top 4 teams in the country. And very safely we can say we were a bigger profile club than we are now. Thus going for Dean Smith would be very comparable.

Makes sense and we have tried all the other routes so why not Smith? Would he come though where we are now?

Hi all long reader first time caller!
Oscar Garcia if hes still free, hes the guy who set up Brighton, or marco silva, who xia was impressed with after the pre season friendly.
This shit can't continue! We should be top 2 all season. At this rate, we'll be lucky to get playoffs
Hi mate welcome to the forum as a poster good to see you take the plunge.
Not sure what Garcia is doing currently tbh but that's not a bad shout.
Cheers!

Dean Smith, would be good, worked his way up, plays the right way, and a villa fan. Simon grayson, ex villa player as well but he's stuck at blunderland now.

Clotet seems to be going down very well with the Oxford lads. Living in Oxford I get to hear all about how they're doing, and the noises coming from the Oxford fans about clotet is favourable. I don't know anything else about Clotet other than that. The doctors previous actions on twitter regarding incomings has generally indicated something is happening, and it does seem worth questioning why he has followed Clotet very recently? I'm not sure how Clotet is fixed contractually but it'd be surprising if Oxford let him go easily or cheaply. He'd be better than Bruce, though.

I've just seen a 'paddy power' link and they have Terry, Chris Coleman, Martin O'Neill, Hodgson, Moyes and Pearson as the favourites.

Re: Next Manager - I want names
Just read THIS article about Aitor Karanka and the lengths he's goes to to prepare his team is simply stunning . Could anyone in their right mind tell me that Bruce does anything like this in a typical week? Karanka is a young, modern day manager WITH championship/promotion experience. What more could we ask for? Him leaving Boro is of no concern to me because Rafa has been sacked six times in his career. Monk was sacked at Swansea, Mourinho has been sacked etc. What matters is does Karanka have potential to get better? And imo he does.

Frank De Boer sacked by Palace, after four games.

Would you have him at VP dba? Seems like the bloke has tried to install a philosophy at both Inter and Palace but just hasn't been given the time to fully get it going. Would a step down and a little more patience get the best out of him? Word is Palace were very unlucky against both Liverpool and Burnley away. Big Sam didn't even win any of his first six games but yet they stuck with him didn't they?

Re: Next Manager - I want names
I don't know much about him to be honest, I thought he was meant to have a good reputation in the game as a promising young manager though, so I'm surprised Palace haven't given him more of a chance. He'd be a better bet than Bruce though, surely, he at least seems to have an idea of what he wants his teams to do and how to play, and maybe he'd have better luck getting it to work here than in the Premier league.
Whether he'd come here though I've no idea, or if we could even afford him with FFP.

Spent six years at Ajax where he won four leagues titles. Then got his big move to Inter but only got fourteen games in before the sack. Now we have this Palace debacle so his reputation at this current juncture is pretty much at a low ebb no-matter how unfair his dismissal today is. But like I said, Benitez was sacked twice at two Spanish second division teams before he finally got his act together and got two teams promoted to La Liga before his big move to Valencia. Since then he's been sacked from Liverpool, Inter Milan and Real Madrid. So that's FIVE sackings in total but no-one can deny he's a class act can they?
So maybe, just maybe there is an opportunity there for us to grab De Boar and just give him space and time to get things right and stamp down his philosophy on the club in a less pressurized situation? I mean, I know there is big pressure here, but the Premiership is a little different, isn't it?
I'd be very open to the idea tbh but right now I'm thinking Karanka could be the man.

I don't care who the next manager is so long as he meets the following criteria:-
Bald Head
Fat
Gruff voice
Wears a sheepskin coat on match days

That list is a reality check - its kinda why I hope bruce limps on - I just hope that a decent manager unexpectedly becomes available and falls into villa park.
I d expect JT to be caretaker manager - with Pardew\Moyes stepping in if he does shit

That list is probably indicative of the type of manager that Wyness will look at, but I'd honestly take any of them over Bruce at the moment, if given the choice of one or the other.

Always happy to have a "Ron" in charge. Done well under "Ron's"..... so, might as well go completely left field(tried everything else) and whoever gets the job has to change his first name legally to Ron. Oxford scored a spectacular "team goal" last night and have been playing some scintillating football.Dr.Tone is obviously watching them.
"Ron" Clotet anyone? Or "Ron"(Dean)Smith.

Didn't he also sign Gestede and Traore ?
Wouldn't be the worst choice but I can't see past Pardew or Moyes
