The Keith Wyness Thread (Serious Version)
Seems like a really good appointment - very impressed with what he has said so far.
Hope he gets confirmed by the football league today....

He sat in the press conference and did the obligatory scarf waving bit so he must feel pretty confident.
Only time will tell but he is, apart from Bernsteins short stay, the best qualified football man we have had running the club in a generation.
Good luck Mr Wyness.

His quotes so far have been highly scathing of the previous ownership and board. Good to read. Now let's see the action.

Bit of a friend of a friend tale, a guy I work with told me his mate has befriended Mr Wyness at their local, says hes a really nice guy, and Villa have a 3 stage plan, 1 build a side to get promotion, 2 build a side to stay up,3 build a team to compete with. Confirmed that players will be arriving in the next couple of weeks and players leaving with destinations already agreed on, finally Dr Xia is totally committed and seriously wealthy. I'll take that, looks like the good times are about to return. UTV

Sound really positive mate thanks for the Intel. Getting a season ticket this year on the back of all the good things going on, yep, gonna be wearing out the M5 between Devon and Brum this season - I'll be "King of the roadworks" lol.

So Wyness, Xia and RDM will be in China next week to have a press conference with Chinese media? Xia and co really are looking to push us into the Chinese market aren't they? .
Gonna be very interesting to see what clubs he buys to work as feeder clubs.

Is that press conference definitely happening or just a rumour?
As for the clubs he buys I don't think they'll be big ones, I imagine it will be similar to what City have done, I think i'm right in saying that Melbourne only cost them nine million.

I think this is the start of a very interesting period for our great club. I hope one day in the future we'll all be looking back and saying this was when it all kicked off, the start of an era of greatness.

I see it is true. Will be interesting to see what soundbites come from that. With the world shrinking due to technology, it's Interesting that they're going all the way to China for the event. Must be seen as pretty important

Re: The Keith Wyness Thread (Serious Version)
I live in Melbourne now and there are two teams, City and Victory. I follow Victory as their fans have the greater supporters IMO and until recently they've been the better side.
City are slowly becoming a greater force in the A League. They play attractive football and have beaten Victory (who won the league and championship double two seasons ago) in recent times.
Their star player was Aaron Mooy who has actually moved to Man City recently. Was a big news story over here! Not sure he will make it in the PL, looks better suited to a slower tempo. Time will tell. He has a serious eye for a pass.
They develop players well and the teams here are worried.
If Villa can do something similar then that would be great! Exciting times hopefully in store!

There were rumours a few weeks back that Xia might be looking into buying Brisbane Roar.

Looks like they're in China now, Xia's posted picture on his twitter.
Wonder who all those people are.

Unfortunately I don't think it was a very credible rumour. But Brisbane Roar had been having ownership issues and some Australian journalist made the link on twitter. They also happen to have the roaring lion icon as part of their badge.

Re: The Keith Wyness Thread (Serious Version)
A few interesting bits and pieces in this video, especially on not being afraid to make tough decisions, needing to score more goals, and suggesting that there are moves in the background to try and get FFP scrapped for championship clubs, something that Bruce also hinted at in his interview...

Thats Wyness and Xia who have made reference to our lack of goals. SB resorts to using samba as a striker and says he will do it again.
does this relate to:-
KW DRX: Make that team score more goals Brucey
SB: I am out of options - let me buy another striker

Re: The Keith Wyness Thread (Serious Version)
Bruce has apparently said that he should have brought Samba on earlier and it's a tactic they might work on. If it's a cry for help from the board, I'm not sure they will have much sympathy, considering over £30m has been spent on Kodjia, McCormack and Hogan, then there's Agbonlahor, Davis and Hepburn-Murphy.
I mean with the players we've got him resorting to using Samba for goals, is more likely to lead the board questioning his compentency, than them giving him more money.
If we bring in another striker, I'm pretty sure it will just be someone to offer another option, rather than someone who's going to come straight into the team, maybe someone like Akpom from Arsenal.

To resort to Samba in a search for goals really does show Bruce's shortcomings, by doing that I'd imagine he only worsens his standing with Xia. After buying all the players he wanted in January and being handed John Terry this summer Bruce really doesn't have any wriggle room, no excuses. Hourihane is playing no part, Hogan not being utilised to his maximum, Lansbury looking no more than so so, Bananason looking not so good. These are all Bruce's players, he's been given what he asked for and we resort to Samba for goals in the 1st game. That isn't so good.

Re: The Keith Wyness Thread (Serious Version)
Keith Wyness interview, on official site.
We keep hearing mention of them wanting to develop a style of play that the whole team will play from juniors up to the first team, but they never actually give any indication as to what the syle will be, I'm not sure if 'Villa Engine' is the most appealing phrase, as again it suggests more of an emphasis on an identity of working hard rather than a particular style on the ball, maybe it's just a poor choice of wording.
Interesting how he's still talking about extending Villa Park capacity, developing the surrounding area, and buying clubs abroad, maybe China's crackdown on foreign investment isn't going to affect Recon/Xia too badly.
