v Brighton Match thread
Nothing to play for except pissing Newcastle fans off, no Kodjia, seemingly no clue from the coaching staff or Bruce, and with Brighton playing for the title, I think the absolute best we can hope for is 0-0.
But I'll go for a 0-2 loss with the dressed-up fans not really giving a toss.

Team: Johnstone, Bree, Chester, Baker, Taylor, Lansbury, Hourihane, Amavi, Bacuna, Adomah and Hogan.
Subs: Bunn, Richards, Elphick, Gardner, O'Hare, Davis and Grealish.
Was hoping to see Hepburn-Murphy, must be injured.

Re: v Brighton Match thread
I think we have lacked urgency and the ability to play direct passes throught the pressure lines of the opposition for ages. Today is the first time in several years I think, where we actively seem to have some fire in our arse regarding moving the ball.
Just wish we could move it more on the pitch instead of floating above it.

It's kinda funny how bad Amavi is at marking out a player. He's pub league level at it. Utter shit.

Such an unfortunate tackle. On his standing foot as well.
Wish someone could absolutely clatter Sidwell though. Fucking dirty twat.

Sure.
Are we allowed to post it in the match thread? I know different forums and different rules about that.

I've never understood this rule of a double penalty, where you get a penalty kick and red card. Surely it should be one or the other.

Wonder if the most 1 sided rivalry in history can end now we've just won Newcastle the title?

Sad to see so many bitter and twisted comments from them on the game thread on twitter

Re: v Brighton Match thread
Gotta feel for the Brighton goalkeeper. Absolutely superb all game and then goes and does THAT!
Oh dear.
As for Villa, I thought Johnstone was great, defence was sound enough, controlled plenty of the game but once that ball gets in the final 3rd we are beyond shit. There's no movement, no guile, no fucking clue.
Bacuna, although he made plenty of errors, must have been running for a new contract because he was absolutely everywhere! Outstanding engine.
I thought the young lad Keinan Davis (Davies?) grew into the game as well. Wasn't impressed with the first game I saw him play but on that showing, he might have something.
If we'd played like that all season, we'd be close to automatically qualifying. If we had a decent coaching set up, we'd be champions by such a distance, they'd give a ten point head-start in the Premier League.

Agree with that Trotters. Especially Johnstone and Davis.
I think Bacuna is one of the most frustrating players I've seen for us.
He suddenly looks like a PL player. Superb engine, gets stuck in, good shot and what not. But then in a switch he goes complete garbage. Hard to fathom really.

Both Mo Farah and Brendan Foster would have good engines but like Bacuna they would be awful footballers!! He is the new Westwood?

Re: v Brighton Match thread
Lansbury looked a lot better further up the pitch than deep playing box to box.
Mainly because he isn't a fucking box to box midfielder!!

Oh! I forgot to mention how unbelievably shit Elphick was. Give him a refund on the sound system he installed in the changing rooms and get rid. Dreadful. Absolute abomination of a defender.

Re: v Brighton Match thread
Bloody good luck to Brighton, they are going to need all the help in the world surviving in the PL on what I have seen of them and especially today.
At least we played better today and as people have said Lansbury and Hourihane played more offensively especially in the second half, perhaps that was because Davis held the ball up quite well which encourages the midfield to support as opposed to Kodjia who just does his own thing.
Not certain whether ultimately today was progress or not but it was a nice day out.

Re: v Brighton Match thread
If they have referees on their side like they did today, they'll be ok.
What an absolute bell-end he was. Lansbury got a kung-fu chop but an egg with an ISIS beard, Hogan had his ankle mashed by Sidwell who tried it again later in the game as he knew the ref was a dick. Ref ignored what I thought was a nailed on penalty against Davis.
Total twonk!
