Hoping for a win to keep our late play-off charge going. But wouldn't be surprised if we dropped points.
Although it was a poor performance, at least we got the win, and think we should stick with the side that beat Derby, people talk about the players needing time to gel, but Bruce doesn't help matters by keep changing the side and formations. Hopefully Hourihane will be back to replace Bacuna.
I thought we might have brought in a striker without a club in time for this game, as I think Bruce said we were looking, we desperately need someone, Drogba, Berbatov, Keane, Carlton Cole and Chamakh all available.

Another game looms, are we going to see another poor performance or will we have a little bit of confidence after Saturday and take the game by the scruff of the neck, we will see, back to back wins would be nice.

I've given up predicting the outcome of this club's matches. Best run I had was betting on us losing every match last season with accumulative betting. Think I made a few grand.

How can you live with yourself????
I think (hope) that we gain some confidence from the win and put in a battling performance and expect a narrow win!

They beat us at theirs quite badly and we are now worse...but at home. I see a not quite so bad a loss at the one at theirs. 1-2
Looks like Jedinak will be possibly left out meaning a porous defence again will be exposed and that is their strength, they can score. So i just think they will outscore our awful attack as we will be weakened in defence.

a hard fought 3-1 home win with the scoreline not refecting how the game actually was.

A must win game. Otherwise we'll be looking over our shoulders again, Blackburn have a winnable game tonight against Derby, and then at the weekend quite a few of the teams below us are playing each other so some of them will be assured of points.

It might be a blessing in disguise, although he is effective, a formation to accomodate him feels too defensive at home vs BCity..............
Hoping we see Bunn and Bree!
The back 4 picks itself, we can go 442 with Grealish roaming just off Scrooge. Adomah and Green (maybe Amavi?) down the flanks with Hourianne (if fit) and Thor in middle.
Still a win for me.

Re: Villa v Bristol City ....... advance thin red line twenty paces
I think that we're better with Jedinak in the side, speaks more to the way Bruce sets up rather than what a good player he is. If we sit deep, let the opposition have the ball, and invite pressure onto us then of course we're going to fair better with Jedinak type player in the team, he's basically an extra defender to soak up the pressure
We need to develop to the point where Jedinak isn't quite as vital to us. To do that we need more possession of the football and to take the games to teams.
Not taking anything away from Jedinak, he's good at what he does, we just shouldn't be so reliant on him.

What I'd like to see tonight is one or some of the new players to get on the scoresheet. I really thought that they'd bring us goals. Have a feeling that Hourihane might find the net, maybe a free-kick.

TBH The Jedi is so fragile at the moment, the sooner we find a workable formation without him the better. I do wonder if he appears more valuable to us because the lack of confidence is making us play more defensively no matter what formation Bruce picks. Who was it on here that said he could see & hear Bruce urging players up the pitch but they kept hanging back?

I've forgotten about Lansbury, he starts for me and yes it's about time they chipped in from MF with some goals. Most of all I want to see us pushing higher up, put the pressure on them.
That was me , he was angry as hell at them being so deep and not pressing fast enough, fat git nearly lost his voice.

Too defensive, one of Hourihane or Bjarnasson should be playing instead of Gardner, don't need two defensive midfielders against Bristol City.

Hutton on again.........
Hutton thinks he's got 3 feet, he doesn't realise one is his ear. I do love a trier though.
We need Bacuna on Johnstone in training, just break his thumb dude.

Also it's a farcical that we've only got one striker in the whole squad.

On a more positive note, when Jedinak and Gardner have played together we've apparently got quite a decent points haul. Think we've averaged something like two points a game, plus Gardner played well with Lansbury at Forest. Just hope that we aren't deploying both Gardner and Jedinak as defensive midfielders.

Gardner. GARDNER. Fucking Gardner. What a sad indictment of all Bruce's midfield signings that we go back to the bare cupboard. I literally do not know how Bruce, the useless sugarbag, can find any more permutations for this team. He's done more swapping than a 49 year old anorak with a 30 year Panini sticker obsession.
I give up. Not even fecking interested. I'll have a casual glance at the scores later.
How are new signings going to settle in and achieve consistency if they aren't even playing.
Let's hope Bree gets on quickly before leg of mutton has another top drawer lapse to match all his others. He collects mistakes like Victorians collected butterflies. I bet he's got his favourite ones pinned to a velvet backcloth above his fireplace.

Apparently they've already had two good chances one header over the bar and one cleared off the line by Taylor.
