Does anyone have any hope for this game?
Villa-Barnsley
I'm fed up with trying to hope for a performance. I will simply assume we are going to lose embarrassingly

Re: Villa-Barnsley
I'm working on the basis once we score one we'll score more & tomorrow will be that day..... Kodjia will realise that Hogan is making intelligent runs & pass to him thus enabling him to score This will ruin the opposition game plan as they didn't believe Kodjia could pass which will mean a change in tactics for them ( less than 3 marking him ) which will open up space for Hogan to play Kodjia through to score The shock of us scoring will frighten the opposition into playing too deep enabling us to push forward at will
Nurse I don't think this line is flowing any more can I try the tablets please

we will lose, unless Xia stands in the technical area and stares at johnstone for 90mins, we've tried everything else.

On the assumption that Bruce will try and shoehorn all his new signings into the team I really can't see any improvement forthcoming so rather hopefully I will go for a painful to watch draw!

Re: Villa-Barnsley
I think after signing their best player Barnsley will be up for this one and we again will be flat and Juggling Johnstone will drop another ricket at the feet of their striker?
The last few days will change nothing as both the manager and the players have lost any confidence! We are Doomed!!

532 is not that bad if the right players are played in that system, it really is horses for courses!
Amavi as a left wingback could be awesome but Bruce won't play him there especially now he has Taylor.
As I have said I can't see anything really changing whatever system we play until Bruce picks the right players for those positions and treats everybody on their merits irrespective of whether he has signed them or not!

How can we call it (not that I ever bother trying!) - if half the shots on target had gone in on Saturday it would've 4-1.

Amavi was a little suspect defensively but always decent going forward so he's a perfect wingback. He's the round peg for Bruce's round hole. Bruce should stick him in and give him a go. He'll be going up and down all night, whipping balls in and some other innuendos that I can't come up with at gone midnight.

Re: Villa-Barnsley
532 is crap if played as a 532, if u play 532 as a 352 then 532 is ok but ya 532 better have the players to play 352 or ya 532 will fail but most important in ya 532 is the 1, we need another 1 and i'd like to Steer ya away from the current 1 to another 1.

Re: Villa-Barnsley
The slide will continue, Barnsley will secure all 3 points, 1-2. The individual magic that was being shown by Kodjia pre ACN has run out and there appears no other way of picking up draws, let alone wins. I expect we'll go ahead then sit back and invite pressure and concede late once again. All rather predictable and boring.

We haven't got the right players nor the tactical nous to play 532. Not only that but the formation excludes players like Adomah and Green, and leaves others playing out of position.

As I was trying to explain to someone on Saturday you can't play wingers in a 352 or 532 system, although Bruce seemed to think that you could with the stupid substitutions.

This is a different manager and a different set of players. Chelsea are running away with the Premier league playing 352, doesn't mean to say it's right for us. We could have examples of Villa teams doing well under many formations, but we need one that suits the players we have currently.

That is the point though we have the players to play the system but Bruce is not playing the RIGHT players!
But whatever system let us play offensively and NOT defensively especially at home!

Brian Little's side played a good 352 but we had the right squad for it, I think we have too now but we have a manager who doesn't know what his players are capable of.

Re: Villa-Barnsley
We really don't have the players for it, Hutton or Bree can't play as wingbacks for a start. Not only that but how we play as team doesn't suit the formation, you have to be able to keep possession and build from the back for it to work.

amavi and bacuna(spit) could be effective wingbacks maybe, I'm not keen on it tbh, it can work but not the way brucie goes about it

Re: Villa-Barnsley
I think our best bet is either 442 or a variation on 443. Tomorrow I think he'll go for 443 with Kodjia one side of Hogan and someone else the other side, maybe Adomah.
