That photo was taken at Xia's personal tailor. He's getting measured up for a new jacket made of the finest beard.

Re: Mile Jedinak
Just scored an equalising penalty for the Aussies. Some pressure but cool as you like!
Hopefully it can give him a boost in his confidence...

Re: Mile Jedinak
He runs like he is running through treacle but, IMO, he has shown flashes of the class we expected. Especially picking a pass.
@Villa_Dan just doesn't think he has the legs we expected him to and he can't cover the ground we needed him to when playing 4 strikers. A more mobile CM next to him and letting Jedi sit deeper playing like Pirlo would be preferable to @Villa_Dan
(This 3rd person schtick getting annoying yet?)

Look alike you've found a new toy lol.
He's sitting deep here and controlling the game very well. It's looking like the system we were playing is certainly the reason he's been struggling (and playing with Westwood of course)

Westwood isn't mobile enough, he sits in a 20 yard section of the pitch and that is it unless forced out of it. Jedinak doesn't have the legs to be mobile. Tish does but is obviously young, raw, and has had injuries. We need to sign a box-to-box midfielder in January, have him doing the running whilst Jedinak sits about 35-40 yards from our goal and controls things from there

Re: Mile Jedinak
Westwood reminds me a lot of David Batty, in total control of that middle section but without the strength to win any tackles, without the ability to read the game, without the ability to pick out a killer pass, without the ability move forwards, without the ability to shoot, without the ability to track back............ come to think of it, nah, nothing like him, get rid.

Re: Mile Jedinak
He should be an anchor in a midfield of three. Less about running and more about positioning. That requires us to have two other midfielders with legs though. Can't believe they didn't sign another CM this summer. Another decent CM and Tish on each side of Jedi would be ace.

@DelboyVilla is very disappointed that @Villa_Dan has now stopped referring to @Villa_Dan in the 3rd person? @DelboyVilla thinks @Villa_Dan is more tactically aware than our last 5 managers?

@DelboyVilla hasn't read @Villa_Dan's other replies? The one he quoted isn't from @Villa_Dan's perspective.
@Villa_Dan would make an amazing manager, as long as he always referred to himself in this 3rd person narrative style

Would be funny though:
Dan, how do you feel following another draw?
Dan feels frustrated. He felt the team worked hard but largely ran in circles around each other whilst Westwood passed backwards and Grealish tripped over his own feet. But, as always Dan is the manager and will take responsibility
So you take all the responsibility? The buck stops with you?
No. With Dan
But...
Dan thanks you for your time

This confuses me. The David Batty I remember was a world class tackler with outstanding work rate. And he wasn't shit at all.

Finished 1-1 and after a slow first 20 mins or so, Jedi had a very good game... fingers crossed he can continue that on his return

@Villa_Dan and @DelboyVilla - I am suffering from concussion today and have been experiencing double vision. This conversation you two are having in the 6th person is really confusing me........

Oh, and back on topic - good to hear that Jedinak is doing well. I was starting to worry that Mile was not so much his christian name, more like the distance he'd like to be able to run............

@De Kuip sorry again but @DelboyVilla & @Villa_Dan both found a new toy today to lighten the seemingly painful managerial search.
@DelboyVilla say to @De Kuip if you can't beat them join them! Come to the party @De Kuip!!!

Watching the England game the other night and they used two pivots in Henderson and Rooney. Granted it was only Malta but my point remains.
Henderson played that role brilliantly in protecting the back four, dictating the pace of the game and had a good range of passing both out to the wings and to the forwards. Plus he showed a willingness to bomb into the box.
Rooney played the Westwood role; same position as Henderson but was piss poor in the tackle, slowed the game constantly, usually passed backwards or sideways and when he tried the defence-splitting pass it usually sailed through for a goal kick. Corners and free kicks were largely shit, too.
As for how Jedi plays that role, I think he'll be much like Sanchez: use him the right way and he'll be a valued player. Use him incorrectly and you may as well put a bowl of steam on the pitch. I don't think we can play Jedi AND Westwood. It'd be like playing two Rooney's.
With Tish and Grealish (???) in front of him, he might be ok. Both of those players will show for the ball and allow Jedi the easy option for a pass. And he does struggle with his passing unless it's a long range job. That sounds odd but that's the kind of vision I have on the pitch as well..can't see the short, obvious easy pass but can pick a run from a winger and launch a Hail Mary.
Whether Grealish can do something with the ball is another matter.
Now I'm not sure if this thread was about England, Rooney, Grealish, Westwood, Jediank or a religious debate. But it was probably about @Villa_Dan

Re: Mile Jedinak
@Villa_Dan saw someone tweet the BBC this morning describing Rooney as England's version of Westwood.
Good call @Trotters
As for the rest, @Villa_Dan doesn't think Grealish can play box-to-box through the middle. Tish can.
