I've been saying during this Window, once Cissokho left, that we need to buy a back-up to Amavi, in case either:

1. He gets injured, or

2. He continues the alarming lack of form which seemed to coincide with Xia's tweet about turning down a £25M bid for him.

Maybe his head's been turned and he needs to feel the pressure of another left Back vying for his place?

Get it done, I say.

Oh I would say probably so!!

Kevin Grealish is Jack's biggest problem. This was the bloke that took Jack to speak to Chelsea when Jack himself said he had zero intention of ever leaving villa and just went for the free hospitality and stadium tour. Kevin watches every Villa forum and social page he can find and will often bark back at anyone who bags his boy when he's underperformed. I've said before that he wondered onto one particular Facebook page who were discussing a particularly lackluster performance and he started abusing people!

Quite frankly it's fucking bizarre.

He clearly fills Jack's head with bullshit about how good he is and will "leak" bits of info like the above to try and make out his client is considerably better than he is. Basically he does everything except what he should be doing - enduring Jack is focussed on his job at Villa. I'm pretty sure now Jack has lost his starting place that his old man will be chatting shit all over to start rumours of a big move somewhere.

It's no wonder the kids' head is all wrong.

IF we get the two Swansea lads, PLUS Rhodes, then surely this goes down as one of, if not the best transfer window in the club's history? And imo the other clubs in play-off places would need to pray that we don't sneak into that top six because if we do they could be in big trouble I think Very Happy .

I see a lot of people on twitter moaning about the Barrow link. I think some of them haven't seen him play, but read what others say and repeat it. I haven't seen him play either so don't know either way, but looking on a Swansea forum they seem to really rate him.

I just want to state for the record I think Grealish is a useless sugarbag and I'd we could get £10m for him it would be £9m more than he is worth. Another overrated sugarbag who thinks he is bigger than villa. We could sell him to Man U and he would still do fuck all. The sooner we fuck the small-socked big time Charlie off into oblivion the better. I hate the useless sugarbag.

Elphick, Bacuna, Tshibola, Ayew, Grealish,
Agbonlahor, Bree, Green, Davis and perhaps RHM.

You'd play Hutton ahead of Bree? Rolling Eyes

Purely on experience (for now) and Hutton can purely focus on defending and we have already two debutants in the starting lineup but certainly Bree is the future.

I've probably been the biggest critic of Grealish for years now, but we definitely shouldn't sell him before we have a chance to see what he can do in front of a decent midfield.

The main problem for Grealish is that he is played as a winger when he has no pace, very little direct ability and rarely takes a shot. In fact I think we've used Grealish all wrong. He should either be played as a deep laying playmaker or a CAM in front of a couple of decent CM's.

The biggest problem for me with Adomah and Grealish and Green (and I quite like all three) as wingers, is the fact that none of them are grafters. They are all powder puff. Normally you get a more balanced side by balancing out a direct or flair player, by having a different type winger on opposite side that's more of a grafter. Recent example would be Albrighton and that Mahrez. Or Giggs and Beckham for that matter. Even shit players can be a good team if you balance it right.

Regards Grealish i think it's difficult to find the best way to utilise his undoubted talent because his strengths are a bit one dimensional from what i've seen.

I think this highlights it below:

Dribbling ability - 9
Pace - 6
Heading - 5
Shooting - 5
Crossing - 5
Intelligence - 6 (Strong in some aspects weak in others)
Attitude - 3
Strength - 4
Determination - 5

I stand by to be corrected on my assessment above but It's all a bit weak isn't it? His main attribute appears to be how he manipulates the ball in tight situations but then once he's done some smart trickery his end product isn't there regards assists and goals. His main strength appears to be enticing fowls with his ball skills occasionally leading to penalties and free kicks but he often goes down way to easily too.

I agree there Joppe, we all know Jack invites tackles through lack of pace, if this happens now on the edge of the 18 yard box, then we have a dead ball specialist in Hourihane who can exploit things, because of this defenders will be more wary of taking him down which I think will give Jack more chance to pick a pace in and around the box. Wonder if Boro would be interested in flipping a failed Premiership striker for a Champions League quality midfielder, Rhodes+10million for Bacuna seems fair.

Also

Gabby and Westwood for Costa, Lambert might be still stupid, who knows?

Ayew for Hernandez

Gardner and Richards + money for Lewis Dunk.

We'll have to agree to disagree there. If we were a Premier League club I'd agree as it's a step up

But he has 19 league appearances this season in the same division as us. He has to go straight into the starting lineup for me.

Unless of course, Bruce thinks he's feeling some nerves or pressure from moving to a big club, in which case he might have to bring him on gently. Doesn't seem to lack confidence from what I've seen though.

Time will tell.

I fancy trying:

-------------------Johnstone----------------
Hutton--------Chester------Baker------Amavi
-----------Lansbury-------Hourahane------
Adomah---------Grealish----------Bjarneson
-------------------Kodjia--------------------

I think you are on the money with the tactic below ach, but when playing at Villa Park we should be able to play more attacking at times :

-------------------Johnstone----------------
Hutton--------Chester------Baker------Amavi
--------------------Jedinak------------------
-----------Lansbury-------Hourahane------
Adomah--------------------------Bjarneson
-------------------Kodjia--------------------

Exactly what I think we should do apart from I hope bree is good enough to play instead of Hutton. Jedi and grealish/thor alternating depending on home or away or opposition

Wouldn't argue with that at all.

Regarding Bree no point in rushing him in as Hutton is off in the summer anyway as his contract finishes.

Hutton is a big weak spot in the team, especially from an attacking point of view, teams leave him with so much space because they know that our players will take the easy option and look for him, which doesn't present them a danger, because more often than not he will do nothing with the ball but waste it.

De Laet getting injured was big blow to us.

I expect Bree to displace Hutton fairly quickly, he's only 19 but fairly experienced. And he's good enough that the opposition can't afford to leave him with too much room, meaning they won't have a man over in other areas of the pitch.

Watched some highlight of him, after seeing the story, looks like an exciting player. Derby also linked.
