Don't understand the hate for Westwood still. He's no world beater but he is able to link the play well if allowed to. His distribution is a hundred times better than Jedinak and he makes less mistakes and gets around the pitch much better.
They all need to perform tonight and criticising a player before he starts isn't going to help

Well it's not a hate for Westy as much as a desire to win/draw this game, he tends to be a negative player, passing sideways and backwards hardly get results, as for Jedi, sure he's sometimes clumsy, but in his short time at Villa he's had man of the match more often than Westwood.

Well first of all if you are referring to my post I think you need to identify the difference between thinking someone is totally fucking useless and hating someone. Secondly how can expressing an opinion on an Internet forum "not going to help" - I hardly think AFW is sat on his phone dialled into TBAR preparing to feel distraught because some nobody like me thinks he's shit.
I've genuinely never thought of him being a linker of play, quite the opposite in fact and if he makes less mistakes it's because he hides from anything involving adventure or risk taking. He's a footballing coward - Mr sideways passer extraordinaire.

Re: Villa Vs Leeds - match thread
Westwood has played some good passes, from left to right and right to left.
Performance ok so far, still some shonky passing which looks lazy at times. Ayew causing mischief. We just need to find that "fuck 'em up" gear to shift into as I believe with lasers set to kill we could be doing much better in these games.

You're not a nobody DK, at least you contribute things worth talking about. Westwood on the other hand....

Not a bad first half, Villa really need to do the same + a little bit more to scrape a result, I would take Ayew or Westwood of for Adomha.

Re: Villa Vs Leeds - match thread
Sounds from commentary on 5 live like if we can really go for it we could get a result here. Their key weakness tonight has to be the loss of defensive personnel - that's what we have to target time and again in the second half.VTID85 wrote:Westwood has played some good passes, from left to right and right to left.

Alan "The Terminus" Hutton. Every attack ends there.

Don't think we will. The only player we have that's able to create something has gone off.
We don't look dangerous at all.

Mmnn not sounding too good now. Close from Ayew by the sound of it but our overall play seems second best giving away possession as well.

Re: Villa Vs Leeds - match thread
Ayew for me is doing next to nothing, looking a bit sulky and not up for the battle. I think I'd take any money back offer for him in January. We are once again just completely devoid of any creativity through the middle, completely reliant on crosses from either Hutton or Ayew. So we're screwed. Desperate for alternatives in CM especially. Very boring to be honest

It's all a bit deflated now. We were definitely the better side in the first half but the goal has killed us.

Penalty!
Edit: and a cool Kodjia goal. Hopefully this is a shot of adrenaline to get back in it.

Amavi looking more like £25 than £25m there. We've had some luck in the last few mins.

I would see a draw with Leeds (if we get it) most definitely a point gained.

I'll gladly take the point, a fair result in the end. Would be nice going to bed in 7th place tonight but it could've been worse. If one were to believe in lady luck, one would assume she's been absolutely off her fucking face tonight.

Yeah I'll take that - we got out of jail and SB continues to grind points out with a weak squad.
Please please strengthen in Jan as we've just about stayed in touch with play off places.

Re: Villa Vs Leeds - match thread
Not good enough. Should be beating this at home. We looked by far the best team until they scored and they we went to shit. 1-1 is probably a pretty reasonable result for both teams. Amavi was played around way too often. We gotta figure our marking out cause Leeds could have had 3 goals here pretty easily.
It's alarming how weak we are attacking though. It really doesn't look like we have a plan. Grealish is looking pretty decent in that deeplaying playmaker role as well, which is the role I've said for about a year he should be having. Without Grealish we have nobody to create anything.
I think we looked our best once McCormack got the ball wide and crossed it. Think this high light how much we need a winger or two. This bullshit with having strikers out wide can't stop fast enough.
I seriously question Jedinaks performance again. His positioning was horrendous.
Gestede and Ayew though. Couldn't care less if they leave. I think anyone of us could pick out better replacements.

Re: Villa Vs Leeds - match thread
First draw since Calderwood arrived and it was much like the Newcastle game wasn't it? Could have snatched it at the end but Leeds could have too. We are so handicapped by our weak keeper, midfield and left-wing it's just a miracle that we keep picking up points like this.
Now we have Cardiff and then hopefully by the time we rock up at Wolves we've have at least four new players.

Adomha, was by far the best sub SB played tonight came on and ruled the right wing, best villa buy along with Kodjia for a long time. Still unbeaten at Home and long may it continue VTID.

Re: Villa Vs Leeds - match thread
Very disappointing, Leeds aren't all that good, we're a midtable team at best at the moment, and the gap between us and the play-offs looks like widening before it shortens. Even with some decent signing in January it's looking a tall order now.
Maybe if other results go our way over this weekend and we manage to beat Cardiff things will start to look a bit better. But we blew a big chance today. Save for Reading, aided by a last minute penalty, we just can't seem to beat the better teams in the division, which is really disappointing considering I was really expecting us to be one of those better teams.

Re: Villa Vs Leeds - match thread
Jedinak is getting worse game by game and I think his engine ran out of oil and petrol after 15 minutes tonight.
I would honestly play Westwood and Gardner in there and just tell them to run and pass it simple and wide.
We could have Adomah and Bacuna/Jack/Green wide so plenty of pace and ability.
Rudy and Ross as a partnership and keep it simple up there too. Ross is clever enough to make the runs we need which he showed tonight and prove himself.
That should at least see us through January
