Re: Spurs v Aston Villa FA Cup thread
We have not the FA Cup for 60 years and there are STILL only 3 clubs that have won it more times then us.
Should Bruce decide to play either pinky or perky in midfield, I think we will have to wait another year. In all honesty I cannot see us getting anything but obliterated but its a game that the lads should relish and go out there and give it everything.

this has the potential for carnage, which Villa will turn up one that will roll up its sleeves and have a go or the one that will roll over oh so easily for a tummy tickle, i'm going for the second one 4-0 to Spuds reserves

Re: Spurs v Aston Villa FA Cup thread
This game is a non event from the start, Spurs are so confident they are ghoing to play loads of kids/second team, we can't really afford to get to rapped up in cup games. So my money is on us turning them over, and we might even get our shooting boots on and rub it in, but then just as easily we could just roll over, thats it me sitting on the fence.
EDIT: Not a bad team Brucies put out either.

Re: Spurs v Aston Villa FA Cup thread
We will be beat quite easily and if Spurs wanted to they could easily put 4 or 5 past us. This sad expectation shows how far we have fallen.
I am villa through and through and I would love nothing more than us to turn them over but is saddens me that I can not think of how or any player we have that can turn this game in our favour.
Please let me be wrong. Anyway I'm banging a tennis on us @ 10/1 I know I'm a fool !

So it is Spurs reserves against 'virtually' our first team!
Still a home win and we move on!

Just as I thought a Spurs W*nkfest, we're spoiling things by being disciplined, the goalie looks OK tho.

Jedinak too slow or unfit to follow his man. Brilliant.

Oh well the commentators are happy, we had some decent performances from some BUT we still have a s**t midfield & boy do we need a striker, we go again.

Re: Spurs v Aston Villa FA Cup thread
Bruce was playing for a draw, so the replay at VP would happen once we hopefully have some midfield reinforcements and Kodjia and Ayew back. It didn't work out due to a good header (and shit defending from Jedinak) and once we tried to attack we just gave them more space to operate. I think I'd rather have seen the whole U23s squad out from the start, I don't see why we bother putting first team players at risk when the referee is bent and we can't play away from home. Let's hope Baker is ok.

Disappointed to lose, but it's out the way now, and at least we didn't get thrashed, affecting the teams confidence. Can now concentrate on the league and signing new players.

Re: Spurs v Aston Villa FA Cup thread
Just glad it's done and dusted now. Maybe if this was at VP and we had Kodjia and Ayew we might have stood a chance but away to them when we're struggling away from home in the championship as it is was always gonna be tough.
Just want to see some signings now before we head to Wolves!!!...decent right-back, creative midfielder, winger etc!!..lets get it done and achieve what we all want to achieve which is to get into that top six by hook or by crook.

We couldn't afford to have anyone missing for this game so no suprise at the loss. Shame it had to be another telly-game though - neutrals must have such a low opinion of us.

Re: Spurs v Aston Villa FA Cup thread
To be honest I was much more ashamed to have lost to Cardiff than a high flying Spuds, Bruce did ok again and his first signing (loan signing) was my Villa's man of the match 5/6 good saves gave me some hope of a replay at VP. Not really bothered that we lost tho, at least it was not a blood bath.

Re: Spurs v Aston Villa FA Cup thread
Never were going to win that with those "avoid a hammering" tactics. Basically we professionally withdrew from the FA cup in my opinion. The sad thing is it was something we needed to do as we do not need more games to distract us, it's a 7 point and series of play-off games mountain in front of us as it is let alone having replays and a cup run to worry about.

Re: Spurs v Aston Villa FA Cup thread
Yep as expected, in fact slightly less bad than I thought it would be. Dunno if I've not noticed it before or if prem pace showed it up more but feck me Grealish is slow isn't he?
Glad it's out the way but we have to have new personnel looking at SBs attempts to put the least weak team out as possible is painful. If the rest of his acquisitions are as decent as the new keeper I'll be happy.
Their second reminded me of the goal we conceded away at Norwich.
Onwards and upwards with some new players and January out the way please.
My next trek up to VP is v bristol city so hopefully we'll have improved by then

Is it just me or is anybody else a bit fed up of Jack "don't pass, slow the play, try to get fouled" Grealish?
Hardly ever tries to find a forward pass or even take someone on.

Re: Spurs v Aston Villa FA Cup thread
I am Quite fed up of it all to be honest. We coukd play for 24 hours and still wouldn't score. It's ok playing for a draw, but we had no fight passion or desire. If we had drawn and got a replay at villa park they would have played a couple more stars and then knocked the bollocks out of us.mefromhere wrote:Is it just me or is anybody else a bit fed up of Jack "don't pass, slow the play, try to get fouled" Grealish?

We need a few new players and need to learn pass and move rather than the shite being served up at the moment.

IMO one of Bruce's most important tasks in this window is to buy an attacking midfielder who can challenge for Jack's position. Because right now he's way too comfortable and that only creates slackness in a player. He's scored three and created one goal this season...compare that to Johansen at Fulham who has around seven goals and four assists!!..the difference is night and day.
