I'm absolutely happy with a point away at Brighton but fuck me, the pressure we put on near the end makes it feel like 2 dropped.

A lot more positives, a well deserved point, shame we couldn't convert some of the late pressure but things are looking better under Brucie so far.
Adomah man of the match for me, Grealish made a great impact, Jedi looked solid and Ayew looked a handful.
The January window is one game closer and their is a scent of the inevitable for the "usual suspects".

Lots to be optimistic about good impact from Grealish happy with the point and thought we could have been out of sight at times. Well done Brucey onwards and upwards

The difference in Jedinak since Bruce came in is frightening. Looking a class act in front of the back 4

Well feels to me like we've been robbed, we took it to em all over the pitch just wish some of them would move the ball quicker at times, Jack looked good, I think we put down a bit of a marker tonight, well done boys.

Drawing away winning at home - I reckon we are on target for 80 points - easily the play offs - but quite a few short of automatic

Early days yet lets see what we do in January, if it goes well then we are shaping up to be very strong side so who knows, bring it on.

You know what, I was just thinking it's fun being a Villa fan again. Really enjoying watching our resurgence and it's been a long time coming. There's something hugely enjoyable about the championship. I know it's not where we want to or ought to be, but bloody hell it's refreshing not to endure the 24/7 spaff-fest of the press over the "Big six" prem clubs.

Great point today. Adomah was top class and put some brilliant balls in box. Kodjia wud of got one on another day or rudy. Grealish looked sharp when he come on. That boy is a real talent. Defence solid again although I don't like Hutton. Wud put bacuna in next game. Best of all tho was Bruces tactic. Spot on today and how nice is it having a manager who knows what he's doing. Ps. Was John cena ref today. Guy was huge! UTV!!

Re: Brighton v Villa, fri 18th Nov. 2016. Kick off 19.45: Match build up and thread.
Like all of you, I'm a little disappointed we didn't take the three points there. Unfortunately, I could see the goal coming in the seconds before the couple of passes that set it up because we were backing off as they advanced.
Also, I've tried to like Hutton but he is starting to really piss me off. To dumb to avoid being gulled into fouling; awful positioning and a totally, totally terminal to attacks. 99% of what he does past the half way line is either a shit decision and/or badly executed. Woeful.
However, despite then result not being what was wanted or probably deserved, that performance will have displeased other teams and managers as much as it pleased me.
We are starting to look like the team other teams will not want to play. The team we hoped would bully the division and it's coming. We are going to start handing out some hammerings, I think, to go along with the consistency we are starting to develop.
Four points off the playoffs in mid-November, after a McGrath -awful start, and getting there by going away to a team that is flying and putting them on the rack in their own backyard. The other teams ought to be afraid. We're coming.

Re: Brighton v Villa, fri 18th Nov. 2016. Kick off 19.45: Match build up and thread.
Awful game.
Technically we are very poor, there's little movement off the ball, we don't play as a team...
The ref was a fucking clown and whoever said we should lodge a complaint was spot on.
Chester was at fault for their goal, wondering off and losing his man. Gabby was pointless as was Gardner. Grealish and Ayew looked good when they came on but aside from Jedi, our whole midfield needs replacing. It's s joke.
Amavi is a shadow of the marauding player that we signed. Hutton simply cannot cross a ball so I'm at a loss as to how he'a getting in ahead of Bacuna.
Plus side is that Brighton are flying, are hard to get goals against at home and we easily matched them.
Some signs that we're coming out of the darkness that RDM put us in but there's still a long way to go.

Well that's a cheery appraisal Trotts! Whilst I can't disagree with any of your points, the general atmosphere of the way we played is much more positive. The sum of the parts was better than the individual displays.
The weakness except for Jedi, is midfield. If we can keep getting the best we can out of the current squad and strengthen, particularly midfield, in January, then we will be very strong. It's the sense of making progress and looking like we can now beat anyone that has people excited.

Good points but we all know/hope Brucie will sort all these problems out in January, however we are showing signs of becoming a team who are hard to beat, I'm afraid PATIENCE is the name of the game at present.

I've given Grealish enough stick on here, but he did really well. If he could get a bit stronger and learn to strike the ball like a man he could be a decent option.

I have to disagree about Amavi. I thought he played really well, especially as he was left isolated by Kodjia and up against one of their best players. Knockaert has scored six goals this season, with a rating of 7.77 on whoscored (a few points more than Ayew, our best player). Sure, his father has just died so maybe he wasn't at his best but he looked dangerous yesterday and Amavi mostly nullified him. Contrast Amavi with Hutton, who was getting more support from Adomah but gave away a few free kicks, kept getting beaten and was caught out of position on more than one occasion (from being too far up the field, not having to cope without cover from the man in front) and I think our left back did very well. But then stats can be misleading and for Amavi they won't take account of the work he was doing on his own.
I thought we played well and imagine how those corners would have gone with Gestede in front of goal. Gollini was good but he really needs to practice his kicking.

We've actually played a lot of tough teams away thus far. Brighton, Sheff Wed, Derby, Noses, Bristol City, Ipswich etc!!..a lot of sides challenging for promotion are in that group.
We're still to play Rotherham, Burton, Blackburn, Wigan etc away from home and those will be key games if we continue to win at home regularly.

still pleased with last nights performance more than the result. If i have a concern its how few goals we score. We seem to have players who promise alot Ayew, Grealish who look great on the ball - and for a while Ive been thinking the floodgates are bound to open soon - but they never do...and for all his qualities Bruce record at spotting strikers isn't great.
Id really like to see the solution come from players currently on the books - Ayew, Grealish, gestede, admomah, mccormack -or even RHM - Surley theres enough fire power there ?

Grealish looks better in the centre. Out on the wing he drifts in and out of the game. In the centre he is more involved. If he can bulk up a bit and improve his shooting he can be our number 10. As Paul Lambert likes to call them.....
