Re: The worst start in premier league history
The difference between our start and Sunderland's was we actually deserved much more than we got.
Bournemouth away= won 1-0
Sunderland at home= 2-2 (should have won)
Palace away= 2-1 loss (bad mistake by Amavi)
Leicester away= 3-2 loss (should never have lost that)
Man Utd at home= 1-0 loss (unlucky with the goal they scored)
West Brom at home= 1-0 loss (We were poor but it was a deflected goal)
Liverpool away= 3-2 loss (we fought hard in that game)
Chelsea away= 2-0 loss (the goals we let in were criminal)
Stoke at home= 1-0 loss (the day Tim went 532 and really did lose it)
Swansea at home= 2-1 loss (again should never have lost this)
And the kicker was if we'd bought better players in attack it could have made a world of difference because seven out of these eight defeats were by a single goal.
After this we then had a very tough run where we faced Spurs, City, Everton, A high flying Watford, Southampton away etc. If Sunderland get out of this this time then it would confirm to me that the Gods really are with them.

The Amavi mistake and Guzan punching the ball into the Leicester player for their winner was easily avoidable. We didn't deserve to lose either game and we should have beaten Sunderland with the amount of chances we had aswell.

Exactly. Dim Tim going five at the back at home when Stoke were struggling at the time. Him making the fatal error of changing Gil for Ayew at Leicester. Him pushing the team forward and leaving holes at the back against Swansea etc...just so many errors that should never have happened.

Re: The worst start in premier league history
I watched some of the Sunderland game yesterday and they are exactly the same as we were last year! Clueless manager trying to force his team into playing tactics they aren't comfortable with, a team with no leaders, a team with no fight and a team with no confidence! They are going down and Moyes is been shown up for the out of date charlatan that he is. We definitely dodged a bullet if we were interested in him?
The Sky idiots siting there saying 'well he did well at Everton'? Yes one club and even then he was up and down.

Yeah to be fair my comment is over the full season. But mistakes seemed to happen in every game which could have, and should have, been avoided. But they wasnt, and more worrying, they didnt learn from it. It was an embarrassingly disastrous season and if anyone "beats" that points tally, then feck me, they are bad!

Re: The worst start in premier league history
I concur with AT.
I thought we deserved more the first four matches. I think we deserved three points against both Palace, Sunderland and Leicester. We just lost all confidence after throwing the win against Leicester.
Don't get me wrong, we deserved 100% to be relegated and the remaining 34 matches was awful. But there was something else about the team the first four matches.

Probably true. I know Newcastle have won a PL game more recently than Sunderland!
