Remember Xia said the player were having a meeting after the Hull game? And expressed how "bothered" he was about the performance? I honestly think the board are gonna have a long think about things over the next few games and most certainly will have the feelers out. If Bruce isn't gone by Monday then I'm betting Reading could be the last straw.

They'll probably give him the next three games, after which I think there's an international break, trouble is, if he does enough to save his job, it's just delaying the inevitable, as in the long run we're just going to see more of the same.

Club should just sack him now, and give a new manager time to bring in a few signings of his own, before the window closes, even if they're only loans.

Looking at our squad it's ridiculous to "need" more signings. Any manager worth the name should make this squad hammer Cardiff.

The most annoying part of this whole situation is that we brought in players like Terry, Whelan and Elmo to stop this kind of performance and it hasn't! Bruce felt that our players couldn't handle the pressure of playing for a club as big as ours? However I think that it is Bruce that cannot handle the pressure of managing a club of our stature and he is the one that needs replacing. And replacing NOW!

I expect to see some tweets from Wyness or Xia later today talking about how disapponted they are, but also mentioning 'stability' and sticking together.

Wyness won't sack him at this point, because basically after just two league games it would be him admitting that it was a mistake to not sack him in the summer, also it would attract a lot of negative press, something I think the club would want to avoid.

The only way I could see him leaving at the moment, is if he leaves of his own accord, or Xia is that pi**ed off, that he overules everone else, and make the decision himself.

Fingers crossed that Bruce is the first manager we have had in a while that realizes their poor performance is not worthy of a huge compensation pay off? After all he has admitted he doesn't know how to solve the current problems?

RDM had us playing OK football we just couldn't hold onto a lead. Bruce came in won a few and then brought in his 'own' players lost the plot lost a load of games and that was that season over!

For a promotion specialist coming in during October and still having got no where near promotion or even play offs is a signs of the times down VP and it is not good!

More begging from Bruce....

villareport‏ @villareport

Bruce: "I don't know if Xia is a patient man. I guess I'll find out. He understood when buying #avfc that it needs repair. [@TheLeaguePaper]

and

villareport‏ @villareport

Bruce: "I've been 20 years getting here, my biggest club in management. I'm not going to mess it up." #avfc

Honestly, I'm actually hoping they get rid of him TOMORROW!!!..no point dragging this whole thing out as I just don't see him fixing these problems.

I've known Xia to not tweet for a few days after a disappointing result, but it's unusual for he and Wyness and Ho, to all have not tweeted.

Although Ho, called it 'unacceptable' on instagram.

The problem I've got now, is every time I come on here or every time I look at any Villa or football news/updates, I am hoping to read that he has gone.

2 games into a new campaign, that is not a good enough position for a fan to be in and one I'd really rather have not found myself in.

Something broke inside me when i saw the shocking Cardiff display. Can't explain it but all of a sudden i just thought to myself..... "do you know what... I've actually had enough of this groundhog day crapness. Enough is enough and for the season to feel ruined after 2 games is staggering"

Now i know we can be emotionally led with all things Villa but it's just the realization that after everything we are still as fragile as we have been the last 5 years. We still are crap at playing football! We seldom score, never but never "hammer" teams, even League two sides we struggle or lose against!..Remember the Notts County escape a few year back? 3-5 i think it was. 1-3 against Luton just last season and a lucky win against Colchester this week! It's shocking quite frankly and the football is going backwards too.

Scrappy, unattractive, ineffective, embarrassing to watch frankly. We can't defend for toffee despite having 4 internationals in the defensive positions. The midfield changes that often it's no wonder they can't work out how to be a cohesive unit. We have about 26 midfielders on rotation and even then they seem to be played out of position! As for the strikers?! Well don't get me started on them!

Just reading some of the replies on FB to the news from AVFCofficial about Bacuna bogging off to Reading, some of our fellow fans are such sanctimonious pricks and some of them love playing the "I'm more of a fan than you because X, Y orZ" card which in my mind is reserved exclusively for roboplegic wrongcocks.

"Ugh, the typical Bruce out brigade" is a good one for them to throw out there and establish how more devoted they are. Devoted to blindly supporting us into non-league, it seems AS LONG AS YOU BUY YOUR SEASON TICKET AND DON'T QUESTION THE GAFFER. Don't get me wrong, I'd support us whatever league and I will also exercise my right to speak out before more dogshit gets rubbed in my eyes. That doesn't make me less of a fan.

I see the Birmingham Mail have published an article saying that Bruce shouldn't be sacked, the reasons they give are stupid, one of them is that he doesn't send out the players and tell them to misplace passes, no manager tells his players to misplace passes, but if that's what's happening it's usually because there is something lacking in the coaching.

I think if he was going to be fired as result of yesterdays match, it would have been done by now, but maybe the club are being quiet because they might sack him if we get a similar performance at Reading, I mean they'll look a bit stupid if they tweet about sticking together, and then we go and get thrashed on Tuesday, and then they decide to make a change.

I really don't know what to say, I wanted him sacked at the end of last season.
He actually mentioned during last season that it would be a disgrace for a club of Villa's statue to not finish in the top ten which he FAILED to achieve.

When they didn't sack him I decided okay then if he is good enough for Wyness, Round and the Dr to start a season he should have the whole season to get things right as I just didn't want to change yet another manager midseason. However it isn't going to get any better, is it?

To be honest I have just given up, couldn't really care what they do down there anymore, overpaid pompous arseholes!

Touche. Only Villa could sign Terry and still leak like a swedish submarine. It really does seem we could sign anyone and still be shit. It's mental. Even Steve Bruce, I accepted the football would be awful, but I was certain of points. We can't even win ugly.

I think that's how we all feel! Both Sherwood and Garde spent their entire time here trying to find the best starting 11 and often rewarding success with the bench the following game. Bruce is at least a little more stable but now any rival manager knows what the game plan is, and can set up accordingly. I can't believe a club of Villa's standing and resources can't supply its manager with all the data they need through the match or at half time - it was interesting to read how Hull's manager reacted to our tactic (long ball to Elmo) in the first half and adapted to nullify it in the second, only losing their advantage again once Bruce made some (possibly pre-arranged) changes 20 or 25 minutes into the second half.
More damning for me is how we buy in players who've succeeded playing in a particular way and set of circumstances and then play them completely differently and expect them to play. Gestede (best football with a strike partner with wingers playing in balls for him to head down = played on his own up front, detached from midfield and given no supply), Ayew (lone striker like Kodjia = played on left wing), Weimann (poacher like Bent = played on right wing in counter-attack) - I could go on but frankly, can't be arsed. We made Gueye look less than average and now have Hourihane not being given a chance, Bruce trying to fill the squad with old players coming from PL teams or even worse, Hull, and exciting young players not given chances (Tish last season and against Cardiff we didn't have either Audrey or Davis on the bench, only Samba). Every manager has brought in new players and a new style of playing and every successive manager has to deal with being stymied by a load of overpaid and generally over the hill players they don't want, leading to financial restrictions on bringing in who they do. We almost need to be in a Southampton or Portsmouth situation where we drop down a couple of leagues, lose all the dead weight and rebuild from scratch. Sure, that's not going to happen but it might be that it still happens and after another year of being stuck in the Championship we find the best manager we can, pay off contracts of players we can't use and accept we have to do what all the good teams around us are doing and not spending millions upon millions of pounds every season on new players who were good elsewhere but carefully build a team using the academy and investment in the right players for the style we need to play.
I have no idea if established teams like Everton, West Ham or Southampton always have four or five overpaid and unwanted players in their reserves or even if teams promoted to the PL in recent years and not known to have done so using massive investment have the same issue. Given the choice 10 days ago would we have wanted Gabby, Richards, Bacuna, Hutton, Elphick and Gardner gone and the money available to spend in the January window or to bring in one good player?

I cannot believe that Bruce is blaming the culture of losing in the club? Considering we have 1 player in the starting line-up from the bad old Premier League days how can that be true?

Stop the bullshit Brucie and be a man and admit you are not capable of managing us and fuck off!

I thik one of three things will happen today, either it will be another day of hearing nothing from Xia and Wyness, which to me would indicate, that they're waiting to see if we have repeat performance at Reading, or they'll come out in support of him, and talk about stability, and being a team, or thirdly, and probably the least unlikely, his departure will announced.

Very true.

It's baffling how we don't have any decent coaching setup. Huge club, big money, but we're lacking essentially the most important thing in the game.

Just a little survey:
For those of us who think that Bruce sacked is when not if, what's your prediction of when?
So to start, my prediction is a loss against Reading and Bruce gone on Wednesday.
Any other opinions/predictions?

Sorry I've not been participating lately - it's not because I don't care but my Mum died.

My twopennyworth: I think that the nature of any loss will have more influence on the sacking rather than how many. In the past, what seems to trouble Dr X more is the lack of fight & character in the squad - he might forgive some hard-fought 1-2 losses but another drubbing & he'll reach for the trap-door switch. And he's right: it's an indication of a deeper problem which can't be solved simply with the right signing.
