Micah Richards
Great. This is all we need. Sherwood will probably ask Lescott if he's got any mates that would like a run.
Aston Villa's Micah Richards may face FA charge after tunnel clash with Swansea's Federico Fernandez

By Neil Moxley
Tim Sherwood's side fell to a 2-1 defeat against the Swans at Villa Park and now the Villans captain may face a ban
Flashpoint: Richards reminds the Argentinian about the Falklands War
Tim Sherwood’s world was crashing around him last night as Aston Villa’s sixth defeat in a row ended with a player bust-up.
Andre Ayew’s 87th- minute goal snatched a 2-1 comeback win for Swansea that left Sherwood hanging on to his job.
And as the players left the field Villa skipper Micah Richards, booked for a bust-up with Federico Fernandez in the first half, confronted the Argentine defender.
As they disappeared into the tunnel, the plastic canopy covering the area could be seen rocking as players from both sides got involved and stewards rushed to drag them apart.
Tunnel trouble: Richrds continues to give anyone and everyone a round of fucks
Former England star Richards, the only player to appear in every minute as Sherwood has chopped and changed his team, could face a ban if referee Neil Swarbrick includes the incident in his report.
The pair originally clashed in the 31st minute, with the Swans centre-back allegedly aiming a headbutt at Richards.
That drew anger from Richards, and led to a clash between him and Swansea counterpart Ashley Williams, which saw both captains booked.
Blocked off: Ashley Williams sings the opening bars to Nessun Dorma
Rudy gives Ashley Williams a free breast exam. It's important to check yourself regularly.
Richards begs Williams to have a word with his boss about getting the fuck away from Villa.
Villa boss Tim Sherwood said: "If the ref had seen the original incident, he has to send him [Fernandez] off.
"He will probably get done retrospectively but it doesn't help us out. I think Micah was just upset someone stuck their head into his face."
Asked about the tunnel bust-up, Sherwood added: “I didn’t know anything about it because I was already in the dressing room. I think Micah was just upset that somebody had put their head in his face.”
Swansea boss Garry Monk also insisted he hadn’t been aware of the trouble.
He said: “Nobody said anything about it.”
A useless prick looks for answers in his shoes.
Villa’s next Premier League game is away to his former club Spurs, but he doesn’t know if he’ll be in charge.
Sherwood said: “Am I going to be in a job next week? I am not the person to ask. I feel like the club is in a hole. I will continue to do my best for the club. That is all I can do, is work hard, making myself ill.
“It is not an easy job, but one I love and I won’t give it up easily. I don’t think we deserved to lose the game so it’s very disappointing.”

Re: Micah Richards
This is not inspirational leadership.
For all his hapless Cruyff turns on strikers as the last man at the back Clark wasn't bad.
What happened to the Clark and Baker partnership? Baker didn't do a bad job but has got shipped out on loan. (For that matter, where is Okore?)
New manager will give the captaincy to someone else.
Feck knows who. We don't have anyone in the team who deserves to be a guaranteed starter.

Disagree. At least some fucker has a bit of fight in them. Okore is injured still and sorry but Baker was not good enough. Should always be Clarke and Richards for me with Okore as cover.Clarke is due back from injury. Still don't rate Clarke as good enough permanently but he's the best partner we have for Richards.
Lescott can fuck off back to the Tatters for all I care, villa fan or not he's been a catastrophy for us.

Re: Micah Richards
Richards has been our best defender and one of the few who really seemed to want to try and drag us back into games, he's also stopped us from getting tanked in games.
And you want a new gaffer to drop him as captain? No chance. It'd be a disaster. And Baker?!?!!

Re: Micah Richards
Clark and Okore were forming a decent partnership last season, I hope Clark comes back in over Lescott, and I hope we get to see Clark and Okore again. Richards is doing a great job but we need two central defenders working properly together. I still want to see Richards with the armband.
Baker plays on the left, like Clark. Okore is right sided. Baker had balls but just wasn't as good as Clark.

Re: Micah Richards
Okay, Richards has done some good defending and is probably a certain starter. but if he cannot control his conduct we'll still need to give the captain to someone else. aggression should be controlled and directed. if we are going to have any chance of staying up we won't be able to afford players off through suspension. he needs to lead by example.

Re: Micah Richards
Bloody hell 1 incident, in which it seems he was head butted and the other guy was still banging on and clearly wound up way afterwards and people are saying he should lose the captaincy! Who knows what happened in the tunnel anyway? Plus while I agree discipline is important, it's about time we had a bit of bite in the team.

Re: Micah Richards
I'd like to see them all receive a bit of a sugarbag injection. Not to much that they all become Roy Keanes but more than enough to give us the fight we're going to need to drag ourselves out of the shit.
No only downside to Richards getting the hump with Fernandez was that our forwards didn't try to focus their attacks on Fernandez to find out if Richard's rocked his boat enough to ruin his concentration.

Re: Micah Richards
I've just had a chat with a Villa fan from Perth via twitter about Remi Garde and the Man City game.
Oddly (at least I thought it was odd), he was of the opinion that Micah Richards is NOT a central defender as his positioning is poor, his challenges rash and he's just too gung ho.
He backed it up by saying the two chances that were presented to Sterling were Richards' fault.
I have to admit to being a little stunned by this. For me, Richards has been (just about) the perfect centre back. In fact I'd go as far as saying that I've been so impressed by his game and attitude that, with the exception of Gary Cahill, I cannot think of an English CB I'd rather have in the team.
Surely an England call-up isn't too far away?
Now...do I have a little too much man-love for Richards? Has he been as good as all that? Or do other people think he's a bit of a liability as well?
I'll be interested to hear your thoughts.

Re: Micah Richards
A bit early in the morning for me there, I'll do a quick edit so it makes half sense.
I think your friend has a point. Though that's without checking videos to see if he's correct. I've got a feeling Richards is quite often out of position, but covers in by being very pacy and strong. So normally you don't register it. But there was a point in the match where he and Hutton had a verbal exchange to put it mildly when they nearly scored. I think what actually happened was that Hutton was doubled up upon and Richards didn't even notice. But like I said I think he often covers himself well, he's been by far my stand out player of the season. And I think he is easily good enough CB for any teams fighting below 8th place.
Then again you have to consider that almost all CB's we can afford, even when we are racking up top 6 finishes, will have some weaknesses to their game. Hell even Man Utd CB's are largely shite. Maybe Richards is a bit off on positioning, but he has other aspects of his game that is much better than other CB's.

Re: Micah Richards
A centre back does have to ensure that his full-back is covered should he get beat and whilst that's perhaps not a natural thing to do for a CB, I'd have thought Richards would be drawn more willingly to the chalk.
Not sure if we have a proper defensive coach - if we don't, it's time to send an email to m.laursen@awesomerock.com - but if we do then I'm sure he'll sort things out.
My opinion stays firm though. He's a marauding beast of a CB and, despite stupid hair that's bordering on something Aly Cissohko would be ashamed of, I think he's someone that we should ensure stays with us for the remainder of his career*
*I reserve the right to delete this post if he suddenly turns into Curtis Davies.

Re: Micah Richards
hmmmm...I think your friend is wrong. Just my opinion though.
Add to the the fact that both of those chances you refer too came from our left through Navas...so if anything the left sided cb should of been covering..ie. Clark!
Richards has been immense so far at centre back. I have not once felt his positional play was putting us in trouble....perhaps once or twice he has been pulled away through over commitment?

Re: Micah Richards
Trotts your man love is justified he is a beast of a CB and I don't want him to go to RB as some have suggested. He is heading for Laursen status IMO with his performances this year. The commitment is immense and that is all you can ask he was the one shining light under Sherwood. OK he makes mistakes and gets out of position at times who doesn't? As for the ManCity game they will create that many chances against any team in the world their players are that good.
Micah is a future legend.

Richards is our best centre half. To play him elsewhere or express happiness at his injury is just plain daft.

Re: Micah Richards
The guy is a beast!!
Don't see the point in moving him his performing very well and is our best cb at the club!! to move him would be suicidal, for a player who isn't a villa supporter, he puts his all into every game, if we had a few more players like him at the club we'd be allot better off IMO!!

If Okore can play on his left then we might be onto a winner. If both can only play on the right then at least we have two very good right-sided CBs. Interesting to see the rumour that Ashley Cole is available and could come in as temporary replacement at LB. If he does come in it should take some pressure off our left-sided CB and allow him to play his own game rather than having to spend time covering.

Re: Micah Richards
I don't know if this got posted here yet or not, but Micah Richards is fantastic. After football he needs to get his own TV show because his personality is amazing.
Also, the inside joke of Gabby getting a French dictionary hits pretty close to the reports that he isn't looked upon too favorably by our French staff. lol.

If Big Sam was our manager he would make Richards our striker like he did at Blackburn with Samba.

It'll be interesting if Bruce uses him against Newcastle. If he does, I only see it going badly and, well it's just more nails in his coffin.
