Barnsley vs Aston Villa Match thread
Only two days away lads so here we go again .
RDM MUST learn from that second half and stick to what worked. Apparently it was 433 so lets see what he can do.
...................Gollini...............
..Bacuna...Elphick..Chester..Amavi...
.............Jedinak..Tshibola..............
...................Grealish...........
........Adomah............Ayew.......
...................Kodjia....................
Or
442
...................Gollini...............
...Bacuna...Elphick..Chester..Amavi...
..Adomah..Jedinak..Tshibola..Grealish..
...............Kodjia...Ayew.........
That would be my teams with perhaps Richards battling Bacuna for that right-back spot. I don't want to see any stupid experiments anymore of Westwood still stinking up the place in the middle of the park. Now is the time to settle on a format, pick players in their rightful positions and lets go and win a bloody game. Mccormack could fit into either team but with him being injured and Tuesday coming fast I'd go with the players who have the momentum from that last half an hour from yesterday tbh.

Re: Barnsley vs Aston Villa Match thread
If Deadwood stinks (and he does btw) how can you pick Jedinak after his performances so far, even Gardner looks a better option than the Aussie to me, he is too slow, the goal yesterday was down to him being out of position, he cant pass, & his control of the football is none existent, I hope he isn't fit because if this is the best he can be, we have signed a right donkey.
As this is the Barnsley thread & the fact I have had to relocate to Rotherham for work, I thought I would take in the game at Oakwell Tuesday night, went to buy a ticket after the game last night, ticket office shut, WTF?
We had our luck yesterday, we have to be due a win, if RDM can grow a pair, im going 1-2 Villa.

I think people went a little over the top about Jedinak tbh. He wasn't great but he did make some vital blocks and tackles. He's also only played a handful of games so it's a bit harsh to write off an experienced bloke like that after one bad game. If we want to use that logic then Elphick should be benched for that crap performance he put on yesterday that could have easily lost us the game. In closing I'd like to see Gardner get a game so I wouldn't mind either way tbh.

Re: Barnsley vs Aston Villa Match thread
Jedinobody needs to get rid of the stupid beard and sort himself out. A couple of passages of play and one excellent through-ball aside, he was awful against Newcastle. Just awful.
But the alternative is Gardner who isn't even a footballer so I suppose Jedi is a nailed on starter.
I'm not going to get started on Westwood because it'll just rev me up.
No more 3-5-2 nonsense. Get Grealish to write "I will stop being a cock-spank" 100 times and put him back in the team. Have RHM ready to go from the bench and let's win a game for once.

Hopefully we will start with a system similar to how we finished yesterday, I think its early days for Jedi, I just think he has to get the prem out of his system and remember how to battle, we all know we have the team just need it to happen.
As I've said elsewhere its my birthday Tuesday and I want a nice present !!!!!!!!

Well i hope there is some action at BMH today and tomorrow and Di Matteo uses his head for this team selection.
Tough place to go is Barnsley and a win is a must.

I think we should consider 442 with Grealish or Ayew at left wing and bring on Murphy early. It just feels our tactical setup so far has been "put on as many attacking players as possible and they will figure it out"
I still prefer 4231/433 tbh, but that requires a manager to simplify and be more direct.

I have high hopes that he'll play 433 on Tuesday after the performance in the second half yesterday.

Re: Barnsley vs Aston Villa Match thread
Could be a tough fixture this, but we're playing them at a good time if we consider they have lost back to back for the first time since Heckingbottom took charge. One to watch I think is Conor Hourihane who had scored 3 from midfield as well as a few assists and was awarded the championship player of the month for August. With our midfield weaknesses we'll have to be on our mettle to stifle his playmaker role, plus he's just been called up to the Republic of Ireland squad so confidence will be high. I think I'd we get at them from the off we could be OK especially as they have lost Celtic loanee Saidy Janko with a thigh tear and he's been having a stormer at right back or right mid so far.
I do think if we play 442, get at them and get a goal, they will offer less resistance than earlier in the season, simply because of their last 2 results, but they did put 4 past Wolves with no response so they know their way to goal.
Hate to say it but I think another draw. 2-2 for me.

Firstly I would like to see a positive approach from RDM with team selection and tactics.
Secondly if this happens I have no doubt we will win! 2:1 to us!

Re: Barnsley vs Aston Villa Match thread
I think we can win this game comfortably now we have shown we can fight back and not concede late goals. In order for this to happen I think we'll need to go 442 and get everyone playing in their correct positions. I'd love to see Adomah, Kodjia and McCormack all in the starting XI, especially after what we paid for them. Gestede coming on off the bench can potentially be a game changer for us. I'll be praying that if Ayew plays that he finally gets on the score sheet. I'd like to see Tish in CM with any CM apart from Westwood. Surely it's time Westwood was benched to see if someone else can do any better.

3-1 Villa. Has to be a big win, right?
Because if it turns out to be another draw or a loss, I think it'll be curtains for RDM.

Re: Barnsley vs Aston Villa Match thread
I'm feeling enthused by the second half on Saturday & I'm going for a moral boosting away win.
We are seeing a side evolving at the moment RDM is still trying to fit the players at his disposal into a combined unit.
He knows that with the striking players available to him goals aren't going to be a problem but he is still trying to temper this with providing stability in the middle & at the back.
A credible nil nil at Ipswich & a draw against the champions elect isn't too bad a return & now unbeaten in 4.
Still don't get the huge dislike for Westwood because from where I was sat on Saturday he performed better than Jedinak who has in some quarters received rave reviews....
We are getting there slowly & are learning how to not lose which can't be bad...
In Kodjia I think we have a real talent who is going to score bags of goals this season !!!

Draw maybe a stay of execution? Depends on the performance? RDM seems to have lost he bottle a bit after being gung ho a few weeks back? This is a bad sign as a similar attitude marked the beginning of the end for Sherwood?

Westwood has been poor all season and at the moment with tish fit again he shouldn't be in the starting 11.

Let the shackles off the next few games, lets get a nice simple formation and style and lets go and have the confidence of winning games instead of trying not to lose them! UTV

Would love to see a 442 of
Gollini
Bacuna Elphick Chester Cissoko
Adomah Tish Jedi Grealish
Kodjia McCormack/Ayew
Subs: Bunn, Hutton Baker Gestede Rush-Murph Deadwood.
If McCormack is fit play him and rest Ayew,if Mc not fit play Ayew and rest when Mc is fit?

Has to play 4-3-3 - and thats a proper 4-3-3 one of the midfield 3 shouldn't be striker.
Can only see a loss im afraid (1-0) - unless that hurricane blows a couple in the Barnsley net !

McCormack over Kodjia for me. Only watched Kodjia against Newcastle but really don't see what most are raving about.
Hopefully was just a bad game.

It's hard to judge a player from one appearance and if you thought he was having an off day. The stats don't lie https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/24
