Joey Barton
This fella splits opinion. He's just been suspended for three weeks by Rangers. It's not impossible he may be made a free agent again in the coming weeks. I'd take him if he does become a free agent, just what we need in the middle of the park.

Re: Joey Barton
Suspended because he lost his shit with some of their players (or at least one in particular) after they got flogged by Celtic.
He's apologised for his reaction that he's admitted was OTT but, despite that, he's said that even though he's apologised, that doesn't invalidate his point.
If it was possible to dial back his dickhead-level a few notches yet maintain his passion, I'd love him here.
But there'd always be that concern that he could just as easily destroy a changing room as fire it up.

Re: Joey Barton
I think that Barton is a bit of a throwback to a few years back, days when players were paid good money but realised their day job was to perform to the best of their capabilities on match day. I don't think Barton likes the new breed of player at all, the ones that got us relegated last season with not even a whimper. I think he hates that pathetic excuse environment.

Re: Joey Barton
No. Massive cnut. One of the biggest in football today.
Burnley seems to be the only place he clicked and even then he only stayed for 1 year. Always bringing trouble and causing issues in changing rooms.
Unlike Ravel Morrison who has had a similar start to his career to that of Barton (mired by trouble with police away from football), Barton has also been mired with trouble on the pitch! He's beaten up a player on his own team, put a cigar out on a youth players eye, punched Morten Gamst Pedersen, and received a 12 match ban for attacking 3 players in 1 game! And none of these are well in his past, the 12 match ban was 4 years ago.
Now he's doing it again at Rangers. Wouldn't touch him personally.

I think he's the epitomy of what this club doesn't need right now. Imagine Barton, Ayew and Bacuna getting into it.

He's an absolute rotter, sort of chap who likes to sleep in his vest.
IMHO I wouldn't have him at VP, aside from his nastiness, he's lost whatever he had - said Scott Brown wasn't in his league, then got owned by him in the 5-1 defeat. Nope, Joey Barton has only got "it" in his mind now - the rest of him has retired.

With you De Kuip.
Not only a rotter he is a scoundrel as well, and that's swearing. Not the kind of person we should be associated with.
Just off for some tiffin.

If the club said no to Ravel Morrison because of his past reputation then Barton hasn't got a cat in hell's chance of rocking up at B6 tbh .

Re: Joey Barton
I'd be more than happy to take him... anything to replace Westwood!
He's certainly not as bad as he was a few years ago and he helped Burnley up last season without being in the news once! Is saying something to a team mate after a 5-1 loss to your rivals a bad thing? We could have done with someone like this last year telling Gabby and Co what everyone else thought of them!
At the end of the day we're short in CM and he would fit in nicely in my opinion.

He's mates with Gabby? Maybe likes to play poker with him (and that's "poker" the card game where he'll fleece Gabby for lots of money not "poke her" the pregnancy game where you end up in the papers with 4 women looking at you the way women do)

Erm I was being sarcastic Trotts? Wasn't there an incident many years ago where Barton did the old rubber lips thing to Gabby during a game? Some suggested it may have been a racist gesture but I cannot believe such a fine upstanding pillar of society would mean it that way? (Yes sarcasm again Trotts).
What would he do on meeting Tony? (Chinese? Japanese, dirty kn....)
Anyway he is still playing in the porridge league so he can stay there!

Re: Joey Barton
Although I would like to have a Barton type of player to add balance and grit, I think that the stench of a few lingers on and this scumbag would drag us back down to that toxic level.
He is probably capable of ruining a dressing room, so he can fvck right off.

Re: Joey Barton
His suspension at Rangers is maybe going to get a little longer, he has been grassed up by Betfair for betting on Celtics champions league game the other day. Is against SFA regulations to bet on any football anywhere in the world, if it is just the single bet though he may get away with just a fine or a suspended 1 game ban. Seems to me he is trying to get them to sack him.

If he's bet on a game that he can have no influence on then I don't see any problem whatsoever. I see no reason why any player shouldn't have a bet on another game if they want to.

Re: Joey Barton
I recall reading a couple of years ago that players, managers and coaches were banned from betting on any game anywhere in the world.
It's to try and prevent match fixing.
Clearly some still do and I'm sure there'd be hundreds of thousands made thru those dodgy Indian betting companies. Guzan, I'm sure would have made someone a lot of money with his mysterious distribution of the ball into the stands (á last Matthew Le Tissier)

Re: Joey Barton
Nah. And if it came out in a few years that some of last season's squad were on a bunk, I'd not be at all shocked.
What I believe absolutely 100% is that referees are under specific direction when it comes to making the big decisions. We all know Fergie manipulated the officials but it goes deeper than him. With the money sloshing about - especially for CL teams - the need to stay in the Top 4 will extend beyond buying the best players and into the murky world of influencing referees (or rather, the people who manage the referees).
And when the people at the very top of FIFA and UEFA are as bent as hoola-hoop, then it's always going to trickle down.

Re: Joey Barton
i would have joey barton at villa as i think at least he cares, we need a barton/keane figure to get a grip of games especially when in good positions.
hopefully jedinak is that man but so far has not shown anything (time will tell)
i dont expect we will go in for him but if we did i dont think its a bad thing

Re: Joey Barton
Joey Barton comes from an environment and family of racists.
He's the hero of that environment who kicked his way out, and kicked himself to their perception of 'superstar'
His achievements cloud over his sibling's imprisonment.
His achievements as a hacker-midfield DO NOT cloud over the fact he stubbed a ciaggarette into a black trainees eye across a Man City dining room.
What is that MENTALITY ?
He was red-carded once, kicked a Man City player whilst walking off.....within minutes he was apologising on twitter....a day alter in an interview he said it was a "ploy"..to get a reaction from Kolarov and get him sent off as well.
Pr@"t
This OP has got to be a wind up .. I'm not sure what the AGENDA
of his supporters may be.... they can't all be SHA ????
US and Barton ?
Get real. Xia wouldn't have that guy within a million miles of villa.
A racist, a crook, a criminal once again ?
And Xia is selling us to China and India.? With Barton on board ?
Jeez....who started this stupid thread, and WHO supported such a stupid suggestion ?
Hmm...I see

i think just because somebody has a different opinion to YOU, doesn't make them wrong or right even.
this is a forum where people can start a thread or comment freely.
i personally dont think we would go for him, but last season he was burnleys best player and was not in the news at all.
lets hope jedinak is the man to sort that problem position for us.
