RDM is gonna have a big problem to solve in the next few games I think. Adomah's injury is apparently minor so he could very well be back for Wednesday's game. Then you wonder about what system he will play and which strikers he will pick?
Stats from our attack thus far
Mccormack= 7 appearances, 2 goals and 1 assist
Gestede= 6 appearances, 3 goals and 1 assist
Ayew= 7 appearances, 1 goal and 2 assists
Kodjia= 1 appearance, 0 goals and 0 assists
Grealish= 7 appearances, 2 goals and 1 assist
Adomah= (Yet to play)
It really is gonna be interesting to see what he comes up with. Gestede has a one in two ratio right now which is obviously the best of the lot, Ayew just had his best game this season and created two goals, Mccormack is the most proven striker we have on our books where this league is concerned, Grealish has had a decent start whilst Kodjia looked the part yesterday too. Add to that Adomah would give us some very decent width which we haven't really had this season.
Logic tells me we can go about this two ways...

It's so harsh on Rudy but is RDM really gonna drop Mccormack or Kodjia? I can only see that happening if Mccormack goes on a poor run or something but for now I don't think he's gonna put his own signings on the bench tbh. Personally I think the top two look the most realistic but the last one is intriguing aswell. If Gestede keeps his ratio of one in two going though then RDM is gonna have some big decisions to make. Ayew has shown signs of being quality but the problem is he's not scoring goals. That needs to change fast or he needs to be benched.

Re: What should be our attack and system be once everyone is fit?
Rudy is working as an impact sub IMO so keep him as such.
I think, considering the long season, we will see him rotating Grealish, Adomah, Ayew, with Green as back up.
If Ayew continues his 2nd half trend of looking up and deciding to play as a team then he'll create goals, Grealish is looking more and more potent IMO and Adomah knows this league. All 3 bring different attacking options

Who would you pick against Brentford then?

Adomah - McCormack - Grealish
------------Kodija
or
Ayew-------McGoal------Grealish
-----------Kodija
Only two realistic options I think. If our midfield was good enough we could play 3232 with Gestede up there as well.

System
get the ball wide quickly - get crosses in from wide quickly.
Grealish seems to have gotten into a habit lately of taking an absolute age on the ball - then only passing it back to the guy behind him - achieving very little....

I dunno what's wrong with Westwood in the middle on his own and everyone else up front.
Fuck it, play rush goalie too.

This, and if necessary substitute Ayew and McCormack for Adomah and Gestede and make it a 4-4-2

I honestly think the only position that doesn't pick it self is RW. Ayew is great IMO, but Adomah? Unknown for me.
Amavi will get in there when match fit

Lets remember guys that Adomah scored eight and also got eight assists last season in Boro's promotion. Ayew might have done Ok yesterday but he's still not scoring goals. I think Adomah would be more productive on that right wing tbh.

Spoiled for choice. So immensely frustrating that we're so far adrift so early.

I think, when all fit, the line-up might have to look like this, 4-4-1-1. There's plenty of goal scoring threat in there, and it can be adapted if we are in front with 30mins or so to go. Our middle of the park options are still thin, to say the least. I'd much prefer to be able to take McCormack off with 30 to go and replace him with a Sanchez rather than a Westwood and go 4-5-1 to firm up the middle. However that's not an option , so it would have to be Westwood+Tshibola+Jedinak as a middle 3 with Adomah and Ayew out wide.

That's a blow, leaves the RB position to either Hutton, Richards, or Bacuna. From what I've seen thus far this season it's Bacuna for me. He at least appears to be trying to put right last seasons wrongs.
