Re: Villa v Huddersfield match thread
Tough game hard fought win for me but we really could do with the RMac banging some in getting his tally off and running and Gestede, 2-1 UTV!

Huddersfield striker: Playing in front of the Holte End will be "massive" for me
16:39, 15 AUG 2016 UPDATED 16:40, 15 AUG 2016 BY GREGG EVANS
Joe Lolley won't be taunting the home fans like he did at St Andrew's
Joe Lolley will fulfil a lifetime dream when he walks out at Villa Park tomorrow night.
But for the first time ever he will be hoping the hosts lose as his high-flying Huddersfield side look for another giant-killing victory.
Local lad Lolley used to sit on the Holte End as a kid and he remains a big Villa fan to this day.
When the fixtures were announced the first game he looked for was Villa away.
And with his friends and family surrounding him in all sides of the famous old ground on Tuesday night, the 23-year-old admits it will be a proud moment when the game gets underway.
“I’m so excited,” the Terriers winger told the Birmingham Mail.
“It’s going to be a very surreal feeling for me.
“I’ve followed the club all my life so if I play, or come on from the bench, or even if it’s just looking up from the pitch at the Holte End where I used to sit, it will be massive for me.
“I’ve never even been on the Villa Park pitch so you can imagine how pleased I was when I saw the game was so early in the season.”
The Huddersfield hitman is expected to start after playing a part in back-to-back victories over Brentford and Newcastle.
If he scores he will quietly celebrate but there won’t be any wild reactions like when he bagged against bitter rivals Blues on his past two visits to St Andrew’s.
“First and foremost, I’m a Huddersfield player and that’s the most important thing for me,” he said.
“For the first time in my life, I really do hope Villa lose!
“I won’t be giving it to the crowd like I did at Blues, though.”
Born in Redditch, Lolley’s family are split between the two Second City sides.
His father, Martin, is a Villa fan who introduced him to the club, aged six.
Mother, Lynn, has a season-ticket at Blues, although both are equally as supportive.
“My first Villa game was Wimbledon at home.
“I remember players like Alan Thompson, Paul Merson, that sort of era.
“I rarely missed a game but obviously playing football every weekend came first.”
The likeable and talented wideman started his career on the blue side on Birmingham before he was released.
His free-scoring ways on the non-league circuit earned him a move to Kidderminster in 2013 and six months later Huddersfield pounced.
The Premier League is his long-term aim and a victory against Villa could kick-start a surprise promotion push for a team who remain unfancied despite their bright start.
“We’re an unknown quantity at the moment in this division because not many people know what the manager (David Wagner) is all about.
“We’ve built a good squad and any team that comes to watch us play are impressed with the way play and how we defend and how quick we are on the break.
“I think as the season goes on, teams will start to take notice of us and hopefully we’ll be still at the top of the table.
“The manager has a phrase that he likes.
“He says: ‘there is no limit’ and he’s right.
“We just want to see where we can go. We aim to win every game.
“Hopefully we can keep going because we’ve had a great start.”

Re: Villa v Huddersfield match thread
Anyone know if the game is going to be televised and if so where to find a feed - and no, not that kind of feed before some smart-arse tells me where the nearest curry house is!
Re: Villa v Huddersfield match thread
I've just looked on Foxtel to see if Bein Sports are showing it and it doesn't look like they have any EFL games at all.
What. The actual. Fuck.
Hopefully someone can let us know if it's on TV anywhere in the world and I'll jump on the Mobdro app and see if it's being re-broadcast there.
Disappointed at this, I gotta say. Have a feeling this will be a MUCH sterner test that what Rotherham gave us and it could be a cracking game. Plus I wanted to see the Dalian tribute.

I'll have a hunt around to Trotts and if I find anything post it up...gofirstrow.eu is my normal go to spot but nothing doing yet - what baffles me is that even AVTV don't seem to have live games - wtf is that about?
Re: Villa v Huddersfield match thread
I always without fail get the predictions wrong, so I've gone for a loss.

Re: Villa v Huddersfield match thread
They have got off to an excellent start and had a good result away at Newcastle the weekend so their confidence will be sky high, that could be their downfall, hopefully they will come to VP and push forward we will then exploit the gaps left.
I will go for a hard fought 2-0 victory and the bonus of a clean sheet

Can't help but feel that if we win, we won't look back. Our season will just go from strength to strength.
Lose though and I can see heads dropping, the old attitudes flooding back and our season will stall for weeks.
Better win then, huh!

No, this won't happen. New Villa, new optimism! Xia/RDM targeted players like McCormack, Elphick, Chester and Jedinak for the squad because they're experienced enough to not let it happen. Gestede and Ayew aren't going to either.

Re: Villa v Huddersfield match thread
Totally agree matey, it's a massive game for us.
A solid win against one of the better teams means we really are turning the corner, a deserved draw with no mistakes means were getting there but work to do and a loss would be an eye opener about this league and where we need to be at.
Confidence is key.

He should invoice Lerner for the shortfall in gate receipts he's missed out on.

At work trying to prepare a presentation, but I keep looking at Huddersfield's emblem at the top of the TBAR page, and why on earth do they have 3 stars?

That is classed as very good numerical skills counting 3 stars in the sky?
