Aston Villa Vs Newcastle Match Thread
Well it's almost time for the "sob on the tyne" derby lads!!...how we feeling?
With this team it's really hard to know what on earth is gonna transpire in this game. Tshibola is back which is massive I think, plus Adomah is apparently fit to start too. One would also expect Mccormack and Gestede to be back in the picture as well hopefully.
I would pick
..................Gollini................
..Richards..Elphick..Chester..Cissokho...
..Adomah..Tshibola..Jedinak..Grealish...
.............Kodjia...Mccormack......
Or he could go 433 and try to match Newcastle in the middle of the park
..................Gollini................
..Richards..Elphick..Chester..Cissokho...
.............Tshibola..Jedinak............
...................Grealish..........
...........Kodjia............Ayew..........
...................Mccormack...............
Either way man for man I think it's a close run thing. Defensively I think we've got more proven individuals. In central midfield I must say I favour them tbh. Upfront though I don't think it's much of a contest. Hope to see young Murphy on the bench too as he more than deserves it after his performances for the u23s.

My money is on a draw.
Geordie lad at work is convinced this is the game when things click and we win comfortably and look like contenders.

Joppe, I think we will snatch a win on Saturday, but 7-2 is pushing it.

I wish I could share Joppes optimism, I think we could win but only by one goal, but we could also just as easily loose by the same score. Its about time we had a win so I'm keeping everything crossed, lets hope we can put out our best team and give it a go.

I think Joppe was referring to the betting odds as appose to the score line, hence the Mutley.

Preparation has been disrupted whether we like it or not by injuries and Grealish's situation. Last thing we needed for this game. Sadly i would have to guess at a 1-3 loss but hope i'm wrong of course.

I’ve gone through this game a million times in my head and have come out with a different prediction each time.
“It’s going to be a brilliant clash played in a sensational atmosphere, but it’s very tough to call. The first goal in this game will be more important than usual.
“If Aston Villa get it, they could go on and win quite comfortably as the fans will be with them. However, a first goal the other way could lead to a very open game and that will suit Newcastle.
He then went on to predict 1-1.
So the first goal didn't matter at all then?
What a dick.

Heavy defeat likely I'm afraid.
Doubt if we'll ever win a match when Westwood is playing except maybe against Blackburn.

I agree. and if he starts i would be more than happy with a draw. Should the midfield be Tshibola and Jedi, then i think this could be the game that gets our season going!

Re: Aston Villa Vs Newcastle Match Thread
2-1 win for me.
Apparently Tish looked off the pace and short of match fitness in the week, then proceeded to rugby tackle one of the West Brom players for his first yellow, then jumped up and handled the ball for his second yellow and off. Apparently the red card ban doesn't kick in until minimum of 14 days so we'll lose him at some stage in the next couple of weeks.
On a different note, apparently RHB was awesome, and score Villa's 2 goals plus generally was very good in attack. Pity he's not an AM, never thought I'd say this but attack isn't out problem is it? I would like to see him get some first team game time this season.
I've gone 2-1 as I refuse to predict a loss against the bar codes.

Tough game but a Villa win by a narrow margin. 3-2 Villa

2-0 loss for me too, I'm afraid. Our form curve is downward and I'm not sure that we have the means to stop it against Newcastle.

I really don't know how this is going to go. I hope adomah starts and Mccormack. If we finally click I can see us winning 3-1 if it more of the same then I think 2-1 to them. Got to stay positive so 3-1 and shut that horrible fat scouser micky quinn up.

I just hope we don't rotate too much and get som continuity going. I'd prefer 4321 or 4231 as opposed to the 5221 I saw last match

At least the Fat Spanish Waiter won't know how we'll line up or what tactics to plan for.

Unfortunately I see us losing this one, Benitez will undo RDM tactically. 0-2

I think there's a good chance this match will end as a win, loss or draw.

Re: Aston Villa Vs Newcastle Match Thread
I would go with:
Gollini
Richards Elphick Chester Cissokho
Adomah Jedinak Tshibola Grealish
Ayew/Mccormack Kodjia
(I've just surprised myself at how good that team looks!)
But I think we'll go with:
Gollini
Elphick Chester Baker/Richards
Bacuna Westwood Jedinak Tshibola Grealish
Ayew Kodjia
Gollini
Richards Elphick Chester Cissokho
Adomah Jedinak Tshibola Grealish
