Clark set for Newcastle?
Strong reports tonight from several journo's that Newcastle have triggered his release clause which is 5m English pounds!!....IT'S PARTY TIME MY FRIENDS!!
But the joke of the day is, still, despite Ciaran being among the worst f#cking defenders to ever step foot onto that Villa park turf...there are those who are crying about him potentially leaving? NUTTERS...the lot of them .
We need to get the dross OUT!!..it's as simple as that and Clark is at the heart of that dross. Saturday defensively in that second half we didn't look right so getting Clark out now will allow us to be able to get in a decent replacement to add further competition. People are begging for Lescott to go but for me he's better than Clark and tbh he only has one year left on his contract so staying is no big deal longterm. Clark though has about four years left so getting rid now, before he does anymore damage, is the best thing we can do.
EDIT: HERE is a link to a Daily Mail article about it.

Not sure I think it's smart to sell him to our biggest rival in this division. But don't care too much.

For me that's the best thing about it...they're the ones who will have to deal with all his sh/t mistakes now!!!...remember the "Cruyff turn" against Bournemouth? Shambles!!

And dumb tweet of the day goes to...
First part no problem...but how the feck does one surmise that we're "not in the running" even with the current squad we have? Just stupid.

Not sorry to see him go. Never trusted he'd do his job and never looked pleased to wear the shirt.

Shouldn't sell WHAT to our promotion rivals? Let's be honest, with the exception of a couple of them, the best thing we could do is sell ALL our players to our promotion rivals.

Having a medical today apparently. Just elated with this news because for me he was poisonous in that defence and he was never gonna come good at this club. What he does from here on I couldn't care less. In our shirt he was absolute garbage, fullstop.

Re: Clark set for Newcastle?
Would we be in awe if we were signing him from NUFC ... No, then we shouldn't be too upset he is off. Nice Lad but as with most of the players they are not irreplaceable & a good clean out & freshen up is exactly what we need. Next ?!?

Re: Clark set for Newcastle?
Think there are two ways of looking at this.
1) RDM feels that Clark is surplus to requirements and doesn't want to keep him. he is happy to let him go to one of our rivals. This could be very worrying if he believes the current defence line-up we have is strong enough, when I think everyone here is in agreement it needs strengthening. However, if RDM has someone lined up it would make sense to let Clark go.
We shall see in the next few days which of these is correct. If someone comes in, then it shows that our ambition is above the level of Clark. If they don't.... we are no better off than last season.
2) Perhaps more troubling is that Clark himself felt that Newcastle might offer more opportunities for advancement than us. If our ambition is a return to the PL and large investment, why would you want to leave? I could understand it if Clark got offered PL football but he is going to one of our rivals. Does he know something that we don't? (although I appreciate he could just be moving for an improved deal)
I think how this plays out could give us all some real insight into Villa's ambitions for this season (and perhaps beyond).
While I don't think Clark would set the world alight, losing players to a team in the same position as us, does speak volumes.
Lets see if someone comes in, if not - then make up your own judgement.

Re: Clark set for Newcastle?
Clark won't start at Newcastle.
Clark ideally wouldn't start at the Villa.
He's decent cover but not reliable enough to start week in week out.
I can't see him going to Newcastle for 1st team footy so it must be for more money surely?

Re: Clark set for Newcastle?
They have let Steven Taylor go this summer and are looking to replace him with a younger version and that's Clark to a tee!
And let's face it Newcastle are more prepared than we are for next season mainly because:-
1. The have been here before very recently.
2. Their manager has had the benefit of 10 or so competitive games in charge (and still they went down)?
3. They have an owner who has been there a long time.
4. Some of their players have experience at this level.
5 They arguably had a better squad than us to start with.
They are the ONLY team down here with a better squad than us IMO.

I thought Clarke may have done a job for us in the Championship, but like any other player, if he wants to leave, let him go, Addios Amigo

Don't we have two excellent prospects in Toner and Suliman? Surely they can be in the mix?

Agree 100% with Joppe.
No loss IMHO. Nice lad and I wish him well but he's just not good enough. I think Toner is a real prospect.
