Summer transfer window 2017/18

Should include McCormack, Gardener, Bunn and Elphick. In my wildest dreams, Hutton and Agbonlahor too. Really think Bjarnasson is going to end up as an out, even if not in this window.
Interesting, I think Bjarnasson will make a good player. Played well Tuesday albeit against Wigan and you could argue he found his level. But he could become the new Des Bremner!

Snodgrass medical today by the looks of things (according to the Bham Fail).
Apparently Big Mac going to Sunderland is contingent on Snoddy signing for us, and movement there will only happen after Snodgrass signs on the dotted line for us, with an option for us to buy him at the end of the season according to Murdochcuntytransfercentrelive.

Personally I think Bjarnason is terrible. I do however like his work ethic and attitude. It's a bit like how I accepted Hutton for a while cause despite him being an abomination of a footballer he actually gave a shit on the pitch. Unfortunately I think the time is up on this kinda thinking. Replace both at the first opportunity.

Reading some of the comments on social media on Snoddgrass, and people seem to be underrating him somewhat, with opinions such as, 'we don't really need him', 'happy to have him in rotation', and 'he's an improvement on Bacuna'. If he settles in, he'll be one of our best players and one of the best in the division, should be a big help to us.

Thor is shit and fucked up 90% of what he did against Wigwam. We need better options on the left and the fact he's left footed gives us a different option to Green

Snodgrass is now official, on season's long loan, presumably too late to play today, so will have to wait a while for that, with the international break coming up. Good signing though.

I think you are being hard on Bjarnasson, IMO he will be a good player for us, he might not always be completing passes but is that because of good defending?? he is always looking for the ball IMO and he was in the right place on Tuesday for his goal and setting up Adomah, and lets not forget he has only just come back from a long injury so lets not be too hasty, hey.

No problem there, it will give him time to settle in a bit.

Well we definitely have enough midfield players now, but an excellent signing never the less.
I have no idea where he will actually play but heavens above we must have the best squad in the championship now!

Without a doubt, all they need to do is show us and the rest of the league how good it is.

Murdochcuntytransfercentrelive was wrong as usual,@De Kuip.
There was no medical, as confirmed by @avfctransfers1 on Twitter.
He (she?) pointed out that loanees don't have medicals, only fitness tests.
A few people then tried to contradict him but he saw them all off, but, in so doing, confirmed what most of us had already worked out:
That he's involved somewhere in the process of player medicals at AVFC.
He's had another 100% correct transfer window as far as I can make out.

Re: Summer transfer window 2017/18
It will be interesting to see where he fits into the team, he's reiterated in his first interview for the club that the reason he left West Ham is because he was being asked to play left-wing, and he wanted to play either on the right or behind the striker. So going by that you'd have to think he'd replace Elmohamady, but will Bruce drop his favourite.
Also wouldn't be surprised if we saw a few surprise departures before the window closes, especially if we can't get rid of Elphick, Gardner or McCormack.

Elmo is shit but he is Bruce's love child so won't get dropped!
I expect Snodgrass to play in the number 10 position which Onomah is currently occupying which obviously raises the question where does Onomah play?
Does Bruce drop Hourihane or Whelan to accommodate Onomah?
Knowing Bruce he will probably try and shoehorn Onomah into left wing or something equally ridiculous!

Snodgrass has made it clear he prefers to play on the right. Having not had that chance at West Ham, I'm sure he made it clear to Bruce before coming here. So Elmo will either be dropped or pushed to right-back imo.

Right-backs the gift that keeps on giving at Villa!
I don't think Xia was too impressed with the Snodgrass signing and would rather have played what we have or youth in the team? And what about Albert?

That could easily happen although Elmo can't tackle at all but Snodgrass has basically stated that he won't play on the left and prefers centrally or coming off the right.
Personally I think he would play the number 10 role perfectly but we shall see what Bruce comes up with, which will be interesting in itself!

Re: Summer transfer window 2017/18
So we still don't have a left footed attacking option from the left to mix things up. Bloody ridiculous.
I wasn't aware he has pretty much refused to play out on the left so signing him is retarded. We already have 2 right wingers and Grealish, Lansbury, Onomah for the #10 slot.
Laughably pointless signing if that's the case.

Re: Summer transfer window 2017/18
Basically that is why Snodgrass wanted to leave because West Spam wanted to play him on the left hand side and he said that it didn't suit him.
Bruce has obviously made some promises to Snodgrass that he will play in his preferred position to get him to sign on loan.

It's not Snodgrass who's the pointless signing, as he's basically a class above most of our other players in the the final third of the pitch, and someone who can make a real difference to us, the one that doesn't make any sense still, is Elmohamady.

We have a great squad and the problem is fitting all the players in. We however are not balanced and have a weak left side Well done Potato Head!

Re: Summer transfer window 2017/18
Our defence was sound, then we went and sold Baker who had been performing admirably from central defence. Snodgrass brings a problem if he's determined not to operate on the left, we're stacked on the right with elmohamady and adomah, I can only assume snodgrass is here to play No.10?
Anyway, I think this signing goes some way to solidifying Bruce's position for a while longer.

This could work if Bruce gets the shackles off:
Adomah.........Onomah......Hourihane........Green
...........................Snodgrass...........................
........................Hogan/Davies.........................

Totally agree. Snoddy is a class above most of the players we have at this club bar a few. Nine goals and six assists last season in the top league last season pretty much proves that. And guys, don't think that Robert just stays on the right and cuts inside. He likes to drift all along the front line. He'll go left and he'll move into open space in the middle of the park too. But his main work will be done from the right hand side. Imo, if he gets going he will be just as important as Kodjia is for us.

Thor covers the left-hand side behind Green. But I agree with the left-back area. Either Bruce needs to have faith in Oscar Borg or we need to bring in a left-back on loan before the window shuts.
