I am a big supporter of giving managers time, therefore I am willing to give Roberto a free pass this first season unless the unthinkable happens and we are in the Relegation zone come January but other than that, we have to give a manager time to build this club again.

I was thinking earlier (had to have a lie down after as I try not to think too often) that RDM took over a club halfway through a Champions league campaign.

Just like Villa in 82

Then he oversaw the team beat Bayern Munich in the final.

Just like Villa in 1982

So as long as we don't get relegated in 5 years' time    (just like Villa in 87!) I think the omens are good lol! Scarf Waving Scarf Waving

Fully agree. I don't expect promotion this season with the absolutely unmotivated, shitty squad we currently have. It'll take 3 transfer windows to fully rinse the squad of all the leaches we have, no matter who is our manager. I'll expect an push for an automatic promotion the following season though, given our substantial financial resources.

I honestly don't think Xia will mess about. If at any time promotion doesn't look to be on then I think he'll make a change. I doubt that will be necessary though, I expect us to be challenging within the play-off spots at the very least and probably the top two, depending how our summer goes and our rivals'.

Welcome RDM, lets hope this is the start of a bright new era, I presume this appointment means Dr X is about to pass the fit & proper criteria?

Make no bones about it, RDM has a huge task on his hands to turn this shower of 5hite around, if we can hit the ground running, we could actually enjoy match day once more.

RDM will get us promoted first time of asking, players will be sold and the players RDM signs and plays will be fighting for the club and we will have far more quality than most in that Championship make no mistake about it! UTV!

Poster on 'villatalk' who posted about Clarke coming to Assist Di Matteo days before it was mentioned anywhere else, has since said that he expects Clarke and Kevin Bonds to be officially announced on Monday (or words to that affect).

Yes, a shame that it doesn't look like we're getting Eddie Newton and Steve Holland, as well, as they have the advantage of having worked with Di Matteo in the past. But Clarke and Bonds aren't a bad alternatives.

New owner: check
Ambition: check
Money to back it up: check(ish)
New manager: check
New Asst. Manager: check
New coach: Checking on Monday.

So we need:
1. a board along the lines of what we had before Randy got all sensitive and pissed Bernstein and King off.
2. A new scouting network.
3. A new goalkeeper, central defence, some midfielders unless we can keep Gana/Veretout/Sanchez and a new striker unless we can keep Ayew.

checks are good

we should have got sanchez to destroy guzans passport whilst at the copa.

Keeper should be 1st order od business, followed by the best Chinese player we can afford that can start games.

Then depending who we keep/dump, we may not need that may if these lot can be motivated and coached to play football with passion.

Just lose the toxictwats.

RDM has been given the green light to dump 5 players if he does not want them Richards, Lescott, Baccuna, Guzan and Flabby

Sounds like guesswork (although it wouldn't be hard to guess).
The author gives himself away at guessing by stating that Bacuna refused to play the last few matches (????)

Even if we keep Ayew we still need at least one top drawer striker coming in. We have Gestede, who can do the job in the Championship if played correctly. Kozak could also do so too, but he's so injury-prone is it worth the risk? Gabby just has to go.

To be fair Trotters, looking at his "performances" I could fucking believe it.

But no, that article seems to be a largely baseless effort in fan-pandering. Low hanging fruit, up your game please media sources!

I thought RDM was too weak to deal with the troublemakers?

I thought Lescott and Flabby would walk all over him?

Maybe not then?

Why have we not had any interviews with RDMT? strange normally when a manager is anounced there is an interview or 2.

I'm sure once the takeover is complete their will be a plethora of interviews from both RDM & Tony & announcement of a new automated revolving door at BMH to cope with the incomings & more importantly the out goings Very Happy Scarf Waving

I think its about timing, showing some respect and a lot of sympathy for all those good people that were made redundant last week by not shouting about new big contracts and big future plans is classy from Hollis.

I think it will be like a circus when the doctor comes over to collect the keys and we will hear from the board and RDM then.
