10m for Bamford seems steep but that's the price of proven goal scorers at this level?

Personally I think it may be lower initially with add ons etc and may be a buy back clause?

Now a decent keeper please Robbie

Said it for a long time we should be in for David Bentley especially now he is a free agent.
However his form did dip towards the end of the season for Southend, perhaps that was because of all the indecision regarding what he was going to do.

Ten million is pretty much the going rate for someone who's going to get goals in this division. McCormack's release clause is said to be £15M, and he'll be 30 in a couple of months, it would probably cost similar to get someone like Rhodes as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Bamford link is just lazy journalism though, because of Clarke and Di Matteo's Chelsea connections.

Bamford would be a vastly better signing than McCormack. Similar goal stats in the Champs but 8 years younger

McCormack i agree is too old for that kind of price tag,say he doesn't adapt and cut it in the Premireship we won't be getting much more than £4/5 million in 24 months time as he will be turning 31, i see him more of a panic buy instead of planning for the benefit cos there is no guarentee as Fulham found out that we would get promotion if we did pay that price tag for him.

Poster on Villatalk who knew about Bonds and Clarke arriving days before it was mentioned anywhere else. Has said that we're going to try and sign a player similar to Barton, someone to put their foot on the ball in the middle of the park and galvanize the dressing room.

I'd happily take McCormack as I think his goals would get us promoted which would be worth the risk of him not adapting BUT Bamford would be the better signing if we could get it over the line

Or Barry perhaps. Maybe slightly ambitious.

I would think it depends on who stays and who goes. If Gana hangs around and you put Gardner next to him then I'd like to think that's a decent pairing with Veretout or another creative midfielder ahead of them.

The transfers in and out are gonna be absolutely fascinating to watch. Newcastle are apparently in danger of losing Wyjnaldum and Townsend so if we keep our cool we could get one over on them this summer. Bamford scores goals at that level and when you add in Gestede then it could be a potent partnership.

I still think we should look abroad for some gems as well!!...with the funds being spoken about I think some could be tempted.

Don't think he is spectacular TBH - looked really good a few years back, but has gone off the boil since. Don't think he would cost much and would be a good senior pro IMO. He's very keen on the move apparently.

Experienced but no bells or whistles. Proven at championship level and been quite involved with 2 successful promotion campaigns (Albion and Norwich).

Decent head to have in the dressing room for a cheap price but won't pull up any trees

I'm more excited for this transfer window than I have been for any in a long time! Probably partially because we've got a manager we can believe in, but also because we haven't got any players I'm overly bothered about losing!

I think Bamford would be a top signing, young enough to improve but experienced enough to hit the ground running. I still think a proper winger like Ben Marshall would be an asset, as well as a top Championship centre midfielder like Henry Lansbury.

I am not too fussed about Dorrans tbh looking at his stats overt he past year or two he averages about 6.4 with 1 assist in 17 games or so nothing special and i think would Veretout or Grealish do better cos i don't see Dorrans as a tough tackler DM more of a CM or CAM position.

If and it is a big IF we have the money we are supposed to have I would expect to be looking at better than Dorrans, he is another nothing sort of player for me!

I could see Dorrans as a decent solid squad player really. A good one to have on the bench with bags of experience of promotion pushes etc. There are more games in the Championship and it's supposedly more physical so i think he would be a good option personally. We have to be realistic in that as a Championship level club now we are not going to attract many, if any, top notch signings.

We need players who will also unite and fire up the dressing room.

I cannot begin to imagine what it was like last season. We can't be having that again. I very much doubt that dickface manager who we had at the end - thankfully I've already forgotten his name - even bothered going in to chat to them at half time.

I think there was a lot more going on than just a poor team but I would like to see a few additions that are hungry. The one thing we have got going for us is if the board show intent the kind of players we need and want will come, it’s a good start with the manager and back room staff which hopefully shows they mean business.
I would hope the right kind of players would want to come to Villa because we are Villa and should be in the premiership fighting for European places but the 5 years has tarnished our name.
