The fans in the Holte were world class today, absolutely hilarious. I hope the Newcastle fans are sobbing all the way back up home! #it'sAllGoneQuietOverThere

Newcastle are dogshit. £85m spent vs £7m spent and there wasn't much between the teams. Glad they're going down.
Great atmosphere despite the shit footy.

Re: Match thread v Newcastle Utd
I enjoyed the game today purely because it was the best atmosphere of the season. The Geordies we're going on about coming down and having a party. The local rags up there were banging on about giving them extra tickets. And Jonjo Shelvey said we wouldn't show up and their lot would make it a great atmosphere. What a load of bollocks! The only party was on the Holte End and the Lower North were doing a great job too. Even at kick off we nearly took the roof off The Holte and the balloons and inflatables both early on and on the 74th minute really added to the party and gave a certain sense of chaos.
There were almost 34000 there. After the last few seasons we've had, particularly this season, that is a magnificent effort. It sounded more like 80000 at times. The Geordies? Well perhaps the sound of sobbing doesn't carry through the air very well?
Our club is in a big mess both on and off the pitch. But us fans, the true heart and soul of the club, have given us a sense of pride. If any potential new owners had people watching today, they must have been asking themselves, "If this is what they're like when they're bottom of the league, what the hell are they like when they're top???"

Dave, I thought the same thing. Any of the bidders watching that will have realised that their local customer base is huge. And that they could promote that kind of atmosphere easily every week if the football on display is even halfway decent.
Those fans at the game did the club proud.
Has the dickhead Black come out yet saying we were fantastic and had a real edge up front? I just cannot get over the fact that he had such a defensive line up with no attacking intention at all. And then only rows on Hepburn-Murphy for the last few minutes while Newcastle are throwing the kitchen sink at us. He really s fucking clueless.
He might just have pulled the wool over the boards eyes last week by saying you won't get 41 chances at Man Utd so he'd play a rearguard action and hope to blag a breakaway goal. But Newcastle are a shit team - the 3rd worst in the league - and with no pressure, with a party atmosphere and with fans deserving of a bit of entertainment, he puts out that shit.
The bloke needs to hung upside down and have his feet beaten.

Around 3pm apparently but as you say I don't think many people noticed it at all.

Re: Match thread v Newcastle Utd
I don't understand why at this point (and for the games since relegation was confirmed) why we aren't trying to throw ten men forward. There is absolutely nothing to lose, if we shipped a bunch of goals who gives a fuck, it would be nice to just see some attacking box raids and maybe a possibility of a goal or two or three. Playing defensive when you're already confirmed as the worst team in the league? Fuck me, it's bananas. Black is a fucking joke, does he forget he's allowed to make changes or is he more deluded than any of the "proper" managers we've had orchestrating this cockvomit?

Re: Match thread v Newcastle Utd
I find it most odd that Brian Little is watching these games and is seemingly willing to do nothing. There's just now way he's thinking Black is doing a decent job.
So what the actual fuck is going on? If the club wanted to build bridges with the fans, surely that has to start on the pitch.
I just don't get it.

I agree, I just don't understand Brian Little's role at all in this!

Re: Match thread v Newcastle Utd
Well he was brought in as an advisor to the board, and that board doesn't exist anymore. But obviously he's been kept on because it''s good PR to have him associate with the club, I suspect that's one of the reasons he brought in in the first place. I guess he'll be advising Hollis, on a new manager and possible recruitment policy. But there's no way he was ever going to have input into team selections or tactics, in his current role, nor should he really.

Re: Match thread v Newcastle Utd
I disagree. There's no league position to obtain (so no financial gain), no salvation from relegation, he wouldn't be upsetting a contracted manager. All that's left is pride and PR and Black has made an utter dog's breakfast of it all.
To not be questioning Black's thought process is criminal. To let him release a statement on the official site that he thought it was the team's efforts that brought about the crowd response is beyond negligent.
If the club previously let Sherwood into the change rooms at half time to try and save a game then sure as shit Little should be questioning the pure insanity of Eric Black.

Also Brian Little is only here for one more week or the season end with still no manager appointed, what is the point of this unless it was purely a publicity stunt?

Re: Match thread v Newcastle Utd
If there was something to play for, then I'm sure that Little would have advised Hollis that Black needs to be removed. But in our situation there's nothing really that can be done until the season's over. Hollis has probably asked him his opinion on keeping Black on for next season, and I'd be surprised if Little thinks that would be a good idea.
Someone should have probably thought better than to put Black's statement on the website, but I'm pretty certain that Little wouldn't have known anything about it.

Re: Match thread v Newcastle Utd
Best atmosphere of the season yesterday, hearing The Holte sing "down with the Villa" made me chuckle !
The game apart , it was good to enjoy going to the Villa once again, and no Mr Black, the atmosphere had nothing to do with the effort the players were putting in, you could tell this was a 0-0 after about 5 minutes.
Newcastle were no better than us & on yesterdays showing they deserve relegation too.

The league doesn't lie at the end of the season, the worst three teams deserve relegation!
I know we keep on saying how crap we are but you truly don't realise just how bad we are until you see them on that pitch, they are utterly, utterly abysmal!
