Re: Team for the Championship??
Ironically I'd say anyone that welcomes Joey fucking Barton to Villa Park, they are the ones that need to grow up. Then you really haven't figured out what core values in football is about. Which where I come from is literally the first thing you learn.

Re: Team for the Championship??
I know your not from a footballing nation but please winning is what is important and Barton in a Championship team has proved he is one?
Who would you rather have Lescott, Gabby, Bacuna, Richardson, Guzan and Richards who have destroyed our club this season or Barton?
No one has to like a player to want them in the team. He is not marrying into your family.
I only want winners in the team and to say you would rather lose is idiotic at best. I know you are a wind up merchant and on any other forum you would have been banned long ago. Just stop taking advantage of the mods fairness and think sometimes it is best to say nothing and people think you are an idiot rather than open your mouth and confirm it.

A few years ago I'd have agreed with him. But Barton seems to have grown up. He's got an absolute horrid past but he'd be the sort of player we need now.

Exactly Trotts at worst now he says something embarrassing on Twitter. He has certainly matured off the pitch and is a proven winner on the pitch. Sign him up!

Nothing quite as convincing as an argumentive technique that's based upon insults. You quite clearly have some irrefutable points.

Re: Team for the Championship??
Barton used to be a major no for me. Horrid attitude and a general shithead.
He seems to have improved on this and, while he wouldn't be my first choice should we have money to spend, I'd happily take him now.

Well at least my insults were not highly offensive homophobic based tirades. At least I didn't stoop to the lowest form of human behavior eh?

Difference is that I replied to an insult. You on the other hand just throw them around like it grows inches to your pecker. Here's a clue : it doesn't.

Re: Team for the Championship??
My final say on the matter is Joppe, you got called out for being a nose after many inflammatory posts to which you replied with a totally unacceptable outburst. Calling someone a nose is silly but really not that offensive in this day and age.
Yet you seem to continue with the stupid posts maybe hoping for someone to 'insult' you again so you can maybe again enter into another burst of disgusting histrionics? Maybe expecting me to be offended by your 'pecker' insults?
Let me give you some advice Joppe think before you post!

Barton is a winner and at the moment Villa Park lacks any of them on the pitch, that is why we are where we are!

Re: Team for the Championship??
All I said in the discussion you refer to was that we're not the big name in football anymore that people (clearly stuck in the 80's) think we are. Now if people have a problem voicing different opinions, tough luck. Calling it inflammatory is just absurd. Btw. Santa doesn't exist. Christ the reality of things really must kill people.
Now calling people a nose because you are literally too stupid to convince them by normal arguments is not ok. If you are fine with that, but get all drama queen when people throw shit back, then you really need to looked in a fecking mirror. Really do wonder if people participate in the real world.

Just A Fear
This may be an aside ....
........
If Hull get through their Play-offs...that would mean 2 Teams relegated last season
Burnley & Hull....
.. might have set a precedent.
Both clubs retained over 90% of their Premier players
- in a truthfull pact to their supporters, they used their Parachute payments for their first year to save and support, genuine Premier players.
They Used Their Parachute Payments {£40 million } to KEEP their high-waged players.
Actually over 90% - neither sold much.
THIS IS A GENUINE FEAR - Our leaders may see this as a way out of
- Lack of Interest in 99.9% of our players
- Inability to import any Player with ambition, except, as Riley has probably seen...a player in Lge 3 France
Jeez...what's he do since last summer ?
If we get Moyes, Jose or Rafa...even Pullis....what on Earth what Information...is RILEY going to provide them with ?
Like a 10 year old "Football Manager" player scorching veteran managers with his insight?
Sorry to any 10 year olds, it's just a lazy cliche..sorry.
And I've gone Off-Topic because I thought of Riley.
I fear we will keep those "In-Contract"...no buyers anyway....

Re: Team for the Championship??
Alf I think you've touched on the worst case scenario which I think is probably more realistic than a takeover:
No takeover
Appointment of poor, 'patsy' manager
Retention of vast majority of playing staff
Riley stays
The new season starts as the old left off
League 1 beckons

Re: Team for the Championship??
I'd like us to go for as many young English talents around. Our own and whatever we can pick up from other clubs. Ex and current U21 players. And just move from there. At least with those sorts of players you normally get a bit of fight and drive. Just like Milner had. Or Albrighton.

Re: Team for the Championship??
Yes! If Arsenal can be aggressive and steal one of our most promising youngsters then it's time for us to pillage the leagues for the brightest talent.
It's all well and good being Mr.Nice Guy but look where that's got us.
Fuck it. We have the best training facilities, the best youth set up, we're rated the highest possible by the FA so let's go hoover up the lot!

I heard Barton is in talks with Rangers, we do need some "British bite" in our midfield though, as soon as I see Sanchez & Westwood together, you know its game over (I hope they both go TBH)

Re: Team for the Championship??
We have just been going through the motions since January when we decided not to sign anybody.
Since then we haven't been bothered with what has happened to the team, to the extent that now we have a team that is a total shambles and absolutely no confidence.
It really couldn't have been worse if nobody had been in charge!

Agreed, it's been the longest goodbye in premiership history. To have given up in January is unforgivable and a total dereliction of duty. They (Lerner &Co) sealed our relegation at that point. We essential became the first ever club relegated by February.

Re: Team for the Championship??
It's astonishingly hard to believe that Lerner gambled the enormous TV money deal on the blind hope (and that's all it was) that we'd somehow stay up.
Had he spent £30-40m to get some decent players in (a tough sell in January I grant you) then he might have added £100m to his overall worth (TV money + value of the club).
Had we still gone down, those players might have stuck around to bring us back up (money that now needs to be spent anyway) or sold on for close to what was paid.
It really is hard to imagine anyone with so much money being so fucking stupid for so long.

It really does beggar belief how absurdly inept Lerner is, it is truly unbelievable!

Reference pinching promising talents, is that not one of the things Commoli(think thats his name) who is being linked with the takeover, is stated as being very good at.

Re: Team for the Championship??
When his name was first mentioned, there were more than a few negative comments made. But having read more about the deals he has done, I'm not so sure I hate the idea of the bloke.
Ok, so he spent a lot of money and managed to find a few duds. But his good buys/finds were pretty stunning. Kind of like MoN but on a much higher level, with fewer disasters and much less pubic hair on his head.

Re: Team for the Championship??
While I've made my case clear on what signings I want us to make, I think the most important aspect of any transfer policy is that we develop an Aston Villa way of football (that isn't shit). And in the future we hire managers and buy players that suit the football, and not the other way around.
I'm so sick and tired of having new managers 4 times a year, each person with a new philosophy of ways to lose. Fuck that shit. Develop club football and have them play that and nothing else. It would make it easier to integrate academy players as well if it ran through the club ala Barca.

Re: Team for the Championship??
Joppe I totally agree with you!!!!
Others have done this too with teams like Swansea and Southampton having benefited from this sort of policy.
This is where Comoli will earn his money and he must be the one behind this. Anything is better than Riley's flawed Moneyball system?

I totally agree as well BUT I just can't see it happening, the club is in total disarray and this would need planning which we all know doesn't happen down Villa Park!
