Re: Team for the Championship??
Eric Black isn't big enough to be managing Aston Villa, we know that otherwise he would of been a manager and not a yes man. I must stress though, no player is bigger than our football club and the day we start pandering to these multi millionaires is the day we lose our values as a club.

Re: Team for the Championship??
We've been pandering to Flabby for years now. And he's not the only one.
Player power and player wages need to be broken. There needs to be a massive re-assessment of what they earn and why they earn it.
Put bums on seats? Sell a load of merchandise? Earn your keep on the pitch? Right side of 30 and have a decent sell-on value? Great....you stand to earn £x. If not, then you get a wage commensurate with what you offer. And that should not have any weighting against what the truly talented players earn.
Who do we have at the club that people would gladly pay money to see and whose performances would be worthy of being called "entertaining"?
Amavi until his injury?
Gestede in his first appearance or two?
Ayew?
Gana maybe?
Grealish certainly had it for a while but his shennanigans compounded by the twatishness of his agent/Dad is a real summation of this season. Still, that can be fixed if he seriously wanted to.
Traore is another that can be entertaining (and frustration in equal measure).
Gil?
If the likes of Guzan, Hutton (he tries hard but is limited in the extreme), Cissokho, Westwood, Richardson, Sinclair, etc were never seen in a Villa top again, is there anyone that would give a shit?
And when you have players like Flabby, Lescott, Richards and Bacuna being booed then just why the fuck are they earning anymore than minimum wage?
It reminds me of the banking disaster that caused the Global Financial Crisis; financial institutions were peddling absolute valueless shit to the masses, telling them it was a premium product until it all came crashing down. This will happen to football. It has to. When a dickhead, no mark is earning more than 5 doctors, 10 nurses, 15 school teachers and 20 engineers in a year then a "correction" is needed.
A fucking big correction at that!

WARNING THIS IS NOT A RATIONAL POST
But I am just totally sick of this squad. They are all tainted and toxic as far as I'm concerned.
I honestly don't want any of them to appear in our Championship squad. I think we're bound for League 1 in any event so I think we can take the risk of purging them all.
Let's just start again

Still think our academy should be more involved. First because of how shite our first team is. Secondly because how well Kevin Toner did. They have a big role to play next season.

You did say we would be relegated Thinman b4 the season started, I hope you are not correct again, but I agree, we need to rip the whole lot up & start again, I just don't think many of our current squad would be very appealing to any other teams.

Yes I hope I am wrong this time too but I do have a gut feeling that history is about to repeat itself.
It turned out to be a good thing last time and actually formed the basis of our finest ever triumph.

Re: Team for the Championship??
If It's Pearson...I Promise I'm NOT RENEWING.
Had an ST in two different stands with my wife with a break for one year, whilst our youngest got to grips with her
villa PJs....bad year for us, but all was well eventually...[touch wood]
When Remi got booted, we both decided.............no more.
A club run by idiots, who paid-off a guy getting us on track.
We were right, because Eric has gane back to the begining, like he learnt nothing as Asst Coach.
No ST now, will, maybe....pick and choose matches.
But with this consortium-of-idiots, playing macho-politics within the boardroom...who in hell is giving the fans help...even HOPE?
Villa will survive without my family's £1200.
If Pearson is appointed....they can go without any income from us at VP.
We'll pay to see us at the neighbours, wolves etc. and watch us on TV every 3 months.
That's how to kill support Mr Hollis.
Appoint a Manager with a racist son, sacked, who grew up and was educated by a father who tolerated racist cr@p in his home ??
He may not be a Malky McKay, but we are a multi-cultural club, and you should be aware of that.
We may need a bully-manager, to sort out the dressing room of it's dubious influences.
How you going to get rid of those influences, Mr Hollis?
Who will buy Gabby ? Who will buy Grealish and all his baggage ?
As Randy agreed...IN ADVANCE...of the recruitment by Sir Doug, of MON.....
...will our "possible" new owners agree to Pearson ?
That is is big Question....Mr Hollis.
A week is a long time in politics, as Harold said, a week is an eternity in football, as SAF said.
Pearson...PLEASE NO...

Someone's been reading my posts on TBAR!
I'm not sure about Kozak. I'd like him to have a chance as I think he'd be good but I can't see a decent manager wanting to risk him in the squad if he's injured, or having him over a proven striker, who could have Kozak's wage instead and cover as our fourth-choice striker. I also think the performance of a goalie is often down to the defence he has in front of him. I thought Steer looked good at Villa, and would rather keep him over the other two. But only as a reserve.
Wouldn't it be good if players we probably won't be able to sell like Gabby could have it explained to them that the balloon payment can be used to pay off their massive contracts or they could bugger off to a new club with our very best wishes and the money could be distributed to all the staff being made redundant.
I don't know about Richardson, Lescott and Richards, maybe they have earned enough over the years and are happy to take retirement or move to the US or China. I hope they all go with grace, and I hope the redundancy payments really do benefit, especially to people who've been at the club for a long time.

Anyone reckon we could and should sign Alex Mowatt?
Yes we should but only if Leeds accept payment in Balti pies just past their sell by date?

Re: Team for the Championship??
So what are the quality championship players we should be looking at? I still think Mowatt could rotate well with Gardner, but hey ho.
This is a possible line-up with just signing Mowatt and Iorfa.
Alan Judge is another option I guess. Westwood should probably be in there as a first team option next to Gardner & co as well.
This is assuming Veretout, Gana, Ayew etc. all are off. Gets rid of all the bad apples as well. All though I suspect we'll need a few more quality signings, especially for depth.

Fairly sure I've been calling for us to sign Mowatt since the January window opened!!
Mowatt, McCormack, Dunk (if Brighton miss out on promotion), Diame from Hull

McCormack is too old and expensive for me. Rather use what we have.

Re: Team for the Championship??
Baker and Clark were woeful together when Vlaar was injured two or three years ago, they were at the back for the 8-0 thrashing by Chelsea. Clark and Okore for me. No more players out of position.

Use Toner or Suliman then. Okore can fuck off.
Sorry about calling Suliman for Sultan. That's my Xperia slightly rascist Norwegian dictionary.

a friend of mine whose wife teaches English tried desperately to teach Jordan Vertout and his family to speak English but they gave up, now a colleague who is teaching Carlos Gill reckons Vertout is off to Bournmouth

Re: Team for the Championship??
listening to WM last night was frustrating, almost phoned in but couldn't be bothered, our young French players are to be blamed for this season!
It felt like the likes of Richards lescott and gabby had been let down by these bad signings......... couldn't be further from the truth and makes me wonder if WM and the likes of the birm mail have watched any games at all.
I know which group of players i'd rather keep for next year

Three of our French signings have shown the required skill and commitment (Ayew, Gana, Amavi). If its true that Veretout gave up on English lessons then he is the architect of his own downfall, he is the one who has impressed me less. I don't think we've seen anything from him, unfortunately.

It's a lot closer to France than Birmingham.
I like Veretout, I'd like us to keep him and I think he'll do really well in a good team, trained well by a good manager and good coaches.

Veretout was the one I was exited about the most, he's certainly fallen down the pecking order for some reason and is probably in need of a proper manager to help him fulfill his potential, I really do think he has it in him.

Re: Team for the Championship??
I think Veretout and a few others will be really good footballers next season. Often you need a season to getting up to pace both on and off the pitch, then you see why you spent so much money on it.
And this is also the reason you must be an utter buffoon to buy a LOT of foreign players to save your season in a single summer. I knew before the season started it would be a tall order. You saw what happened to Sunderland and that crazy fascist.
If you develop a squad with an English core, you buy smart etc. then you can afford a Veretout coming in during the summer and taking a season to get up to pace, but what we've done is just fucking stupid. I could be a better manager and club owner. And that's the truth.

Veretout needs to be stuck with. I still maintain that given time he'll be our best midfielder and if we sell him now then someone else will get the benefits
