Sam Byram - shouldn't we be trying?
Just reading that Sam Byram could be on his way to West Ham from Leeds on a cut price deal as he enters the last 6 months of his contract.
By all accounts this kid could be a quality attacking right back/winger....pretty sure he would walk into our side right now, and be a key player in getting us back up if/when the inevitable is confirmed.

Don't think he'd come to us. West Ham and Everton reported to want him.
Mowatt would be a better shout as I think he's gettable

I fear you are right, yet he is exactly the kind of player Villa always attracted.
Heartbroken!

Just read that. £5m bid apparently. Still see him going to one of the others mentioned but would be chuffed if we did bag him. He'd be a big player in our promotion push next season

Bacuna has been quite solid at RB lately or am I alone in thinking this?

Played well enough to keep Richards out (unless CB, contract, etc etc etc)

He was one of our best players against Crystal Palace. Yesterday, he played well once more.villajk wrote:Bacuna poor. get byram,,
Two last matches during which we played like a real team, attacking and defending together.

Bacuna kind of sums us up. He's average at best and when he's playing at his best for us he's average. The rest of the time he's a bit shit.
I think that applies to just about all of them except Ayew.

I doubt if we will see much more of Grealish.

He was supposed to be out with flu or something. Did he catch his flu in the sane place Gabby suffered his back injury?

Gabby been binned off...I feel pretty sure of that....and Grealish had tonsillitis!
To be honest, if it takes 6 months to bring Grealish down a peg or two then it will be worth it. I feel Remi Garde is the right manager for him, the worst kind of manager for him was a Sherwood type.

Yeah Sherwood appeared to instill in him the opinion that sun shines out his ringpiece and his shit smells of roses

What is the point? He would just turn us down anyway... Why go to us as opposed to West Ham? They're much further up the table, they're in London, they're virtually guaranteed to stay in the Premier League and, as a result, will pay him more next season that we will. You guys make it sound like, "if we only put offers in for these players, they'll be lining up at the Bodymoor Heath gates clamoring to get in". We can't even convince Debuchy to join us on a 6 month loan where he would be a guaranteed starter in a team that has a large French-speaking contingent and a French coach. Not many players who will improve us will want to come here unless we string together a few more results before the window closes.

Re: Sam Byram - shouldn't we be trying?
I agree KMitch,
Villa is the "last resort" option now. If a player joins he will have a 90% chance of having a relegation on his CV and likely this could impact any chance he has of forcing his way into the Euro's most likely surely? So although yes he would be playing regularly that has a strong chance of backfiring if we go down in embarrassing fashion.
The last two results have deffo helped however as if we go down and are seen as going down fighting or unluckily on the last day that's more acceptable. It would still be a major downer though for all concerned and that's not an attractive proposition to players.
So IF we get anyone it'll be late in the window surely when all other opportunities have been explored. Last in the pile is not a good place to be!!

I did say that West Ham and Everton want him back on 5th January. They're much more attractive than we are.
Mowatt is still available.
