Will Garde work some magic or not ?
Re: Aston Villa v Man City Sunday 8th November 2015 1.30pm KO
Traore and Veretout will more than likely be on the bench according to someone i know. Wink wink, say no more, say no moreDe Kuip wrote:NARLA24 wrote:Todays team in training was

Thoughts anyone ?
Well obviously Lescott is a disappointment but at least with him and Richards that's only 50% of our centre backs in panic mode rather than 100% if Clarke was playing alongside Lescott.
Thought Westy did enough against Spurs until he went off to merit reselection.
Obviously Amavi back in would be the right choice, and as someone said earlier, Ayew's energy is a different thing altogether than the lethargic Gabby.
Grealish dropped on current form and attitude is welcome, and although I slagged Sinclair off on Monday for being a winger who doesn't cross, he did have a go at least.
I would love, LOVE Illori to turn out well so we could drop Hutton, the fucking liability and serial giver-away of possession, Likewise if we're to retain possession, Bacuna needs to be missing.
Yep, if that's the team, I could live with it - would like to see Traore on at some point that gives him time to impact - not at 85 mins.
I suppose the biggest miss for me is Veretout.

As long as Gabby is not playing then anything is fine.

I think that line-up is there abouts what most have been calling for. The obvious delight is not seeing the names Richardson or Agbonlahor there, hopefully they are also absent from the bench. Whilst on the subject of the bench i assume it will have Veretout, Okore, Clark, Traore, Gestede, etc sat upon it?! If that is Garde's first ideas then he already has improved upon what has gone on before him.

I don't want Lescott anywhere near the first team. He's the past.
Sinclair off for Grealish and Clark for Lescott and we have a deal. I'd prefer Veretout at some point as well, but guess I can't be greedy. Thank fuck Gestede isn't in it.

Is he going to play them as a diamond?

Other than the fact I had Veretout in for Westy and Clark/Okore in for Lescott, he's playing exactly the team I wanted if it is a diamond. So I can't complain.
I really think it is the formation which will suit our players and get us out of the shite we are in

What concerns me more than the team that's selected or the formation or the tactics, is the seeming lack of professionalism amongst the players. It's like a Villa is a holiday camp that you go to to play at a cracking stadium against the best teams. It doesn't matter if you win or lose as long as you've had a great day!
Hutton, Richards, Gil and maybe Ayew are the exceptions here. Remi needs to completely change the mindset. If he can do that, he's halfway there.

I'm getting a little nervous about this game now. Not about the result, a defeat is absolutely nailed on, but just in case Garde's team selection shows that he has not really gotten a handle on things.
Maybe it'll be to early to judge.

It's looking more likely as the game approaches that Man City are actually going to rub our noses in it by playing Delph!

Tell you what I'd rather have Sanchez alongside Richards than Lescott - that's how much of a liability I think Lescott is - Sanchez with Richards and Vertout in the midfield.

I hope Westwood and Lescott are not in the team both very poor and there must be a place for Grealish

If Delph plays Clark HAS TO play. I want him to get a red card and two foot break that snakes back.

Aston Villa's defeat by Tottenham on Monday showed there is nothing wrong with their effort or application, but they are just not good enough
the above quote is from Mark Lawrenson....I really do hate that twat. I've got my claret and blue glasses on so I'm going for a 1-1 draw

Despite stats showing that our work rate is the worst in the PL? Let's not worry about facts, we're at the BBC retirement home for thick ex footballers.

Worth getting Baker back and making sure that the job is done.

Quality is there by the bucket load. Unfortunately those players haven't been picked. That should start to change now with no preference given to British players. Pick the best players, in the best formation with the best tactics and the results will come.

On current form Grealish doesn't deserve to be starting. He needs benching in place of Gil.
As for Lawro, he's a fucking moron. They were all laughing at our "captain" and yet he thinks our application and work rate is high? Twat

I wonder if Grealish has the hump that Sherwood was gotten rid of? He's certainly playing half-arsed. However, he and Gil look good working together so I'd be tempted to start him but any sign of the same lethargy he's displayed in the last couple of weeks would mean a lengthy spell on the car-seats.

Quality is there and Grealish has more than most so should play and that includes Veretout who at present is far to slow and looks sluggish
