Can Sherwood make us winners?
Re: Aston Villa v Stoke
First time for a long, long time that I have actually looked forward to a game!

Re: Aston Villa v Stoke
Same for me. I can't recall the last time that I actually looked forward to a Villa match.
With Stoke's apparent injury list, I was going to say that even Lambert would win this but thinking on it, he'd probably sit in the changing room saying:
"They know that we know they're a weakened side and so they're probably preparing to give us lots of possession and then hit us on the counter attack. So let's not play into their hands; everyone sit deep and don't give them a chance to have a go at us. It will be US doing the counter attacking. They'll never expect that. Right lads, you know the drill 4-3-3 and, er, that's it. Take the rest of the week off and I'll see you all ten minutes before the game"

Sherwood has done the first thing to piss me off in his reign, which is Richardson at left back. But I'm hoping he'll score one of those 30 yard screamers that he gets every now & then to keep me quiet
It's certainly an attacking team anyway!

It certainly points to us attacking more than defending haha! Richardson must of worked damn hard in training this week.

Excited for this, I fackin' hate Stoke anyway so would be a double-great game if we win.

Re: Aston Villa v Stoke
Very good tempo, pressing high up the pitch and getting runners going past Benteke. Its still gonna be nervy if it stays at 1-0 so we need to make this dominance count. Sinclair has been good as has Gill, need Gabby and Benteke to lift a bit

Re: Aston Villa v Stoke
I really hope Sanchez does not come out for the 2nd half and doesn't make his way into the starting lineup until he can actually prove that he adds value because yet again he is by far the weakest link.
That aside, I've enjoyed the first half, bar the cheap equaliser which was well taken at the expense of some sleepy defending. Still a lot of waking up to do across the team so let's see what Tim can say in the dressing room.

I am so fucking angry right now. Absolute top level angry.
Edit: you don't walk right back into being captain, give away a penalty picking up a second yellow on the way. Utter embarassment, Ron Vlaar you fucking wanker. Sanchez can fuck off too, a truly laughable member of the team.

3 attempts v 12. Bullied by Stoke all day. Laughable concession at the end. There are times when the writing is on the wall and this is one of those. If we couldn't get a bounce from a new manager and a goal up, then we look like we're going down.

Re: Aston Villa v Stoke
That's disappointing and more worryingly that game was one where I'd identified 3 Pts out of the 14 I thought we'd deffo get. Second bottom as well due to Burnleys draw at the Bridge.
I know Rome wasn't built in a day but is like to have seen at least the footings being concreted in FFS.
Easy to say this after the event but does anyone else think that Vlaar can be a fucking liability at times?
As I said, really disappointed. Only listened to the game but the commentator stating that the team didn't look that different from Lamberts was an "ouch" moment - just goes to show how much Tim has to do in the coming weeks.

While I'm at it......
Corners still shit.
Guzans delivery ditto.
Benteke lost 90% of the aerial challenges.
We were outnumbered and outmuscled in the middle of the park
Final ball was not Sunday league standard.
Some eyeopening findings for the new stats guy, I'd say.
