Luis Suárez

Luis Suárez
Got his 28th goal of the season today, from 25 games.
I know he is not the most popular player, but that record deserves a lot of respect. For me he is the best player in the country by a mile, and the partnership with Sturridge might just carry Liverpool to the title.

Hope not. I've hated Liverpool ever since the carry on with Gareth Barry. The culmination of that summer was a friend (a South African arm-chair scouse-lover) of some of my family saying to me at a barbeque that Villa should just let Liverpool have Barry. "Er... No, mate. It doesn't work like that."
Suarez's record is impressive though.

Re: Luis Suárez
He is some player. Somewhat ironically, the first time I ever saw him play (possibly the 2010 world cup) I posted on facebook 'MON, get Randy's chequebook and sign that man'....
Back then I genuinely felt we were at a crossroads and that a winning move or two would take us to greatness.

28 goals and none of them pens - a great record and making it a three horse title race .

Re: Luis Suárez
If Arsenal's £40M bid for him last summer had paid off do you think they'd be streets ahead in the title race by now?

Re: Luis Suárez
Possibly, he is certainly a far better goalscorer than Giroud.
Personally though, I believe Arsenal have an inbuilt flakiness that tends to rear its ugly head from time to time. The results today, against Liverpool and against Man City all speak to that and I'm not sure that Suarez and his goals could cure that.

Re: Luis Suárez
Whatever his failings as a person he is certainly one of the best footballers in the premiership at the moment.

I didn't know that. That his tally isn't beefed up by freebies, is rather impressive indeed. I'm not sure he has what it takes to score against the mighty Aussies in the World Cup though.

Re: Luis Suárez
He also missed a few games at the start of the season suspended , Rodgers is doing a great job here but they will need to win against city and Chelsea at anfield .

Re: Luis Suárez
Whilst we dodge a bullet with OGS, did we chose wrong by going with Lambert over Rodgers? Would the Liverpool boss had done any better with the resources Lambert has?
My answer: shit yes!

Re: Luis Suárez
Rodgers went to Liverpool before we appointed Lambert. Even if we pursued him earlier he'd probably have known there was the possibility of an offer from Liverpool on the table. Would he have chosen us ahead of Liverpool?
